NLCS Wednesday

St Louis Cardinals at S.F. Giants
I think the Giants have the magic in post season this year and they are doing it with an unlikely squad.  I don't think the Cardinals are just going to go away.  Matt Holiday is on a tear and Molina going down maybe makes this club more dangerous.  I don't like the pitching match up both pitchers looks hittable so that's the way we're playing.

ALCS Tuesday

Let's go with ALCS with KC Royals up 2-0 back in Kauffman Stadium.
We have No#3 money pitcher Wei Yin Chen for Baltimore after No#1 and No#2 failing to put quality numbers. KC starters did not go long either. The batters are in a zone coming through, but KC has the late game edge with their bullpen and playing in front of their home crowd.  Yes, the O's have been winning on the road and they certainly need it to survive. What we see is a low scoring outcome with KC edging it out.

Post Season Thursday

Detroit Tigers at Baltimore Orioles
Moving to the American League we have the Tigers visiting Camden Yards. The O's at home will go toe to toe with any opponent.  Don't let Max Scherzer hold you back.  The Tigers Ace is one of the Post Season's best. Scherzer is a elite and their offense can catch fire any time. However Tillman for the O's should keep the Birds in this game. What we like is the total to go Over this low number. The total trends Under for Baltimore, but Over for Detroit. The pitching match up looks strong, but the number here is still too low and the money is pushing Over. The Post season bats are hot. Money on Over.

Wild Card Wednesday

S.F. Giants at Pittsburgh Pirates
This is getting good. That AL wildcard game last night was out of sight. I can't believe Kansas City winning it, but that's the game. This NL wildcard game has two teams with 88 wins. The Pirates sending Edinson Volquez who is emerging post season pitcher against San Francisco Ace Madison Bumgarner. The Pirates have the match up edge at home, but we have Bumgarner on a spot to improve. Volquez  may not implode, but can't see him continuing this high level pitching. Bumgarner better away at 11-4 with 15 quality out of 18.  Volquez is a home pitcher at 8-5 with 12 quality out of 17.  Both very good, but Giants are bit better.

Tampa Bay Rays at Cleveland Indians
The Indians are not officially dead yet, but have no doubt they are the long shot to make the post season. Terry Francona's club will try to control what they can and that is to win this game. Tampa is down and out for 2014, but they will send Chris Archer who has pitched great baseball as of late with 3 quality starts and last 2 he was almost unhittable. Archer road starts are better, but he is pitching in a bad spot. His recent quality starts are some what product of his bounce back from his 2 bad outings and now he's exceeded his average coming off a no run two hit 6 inning game against Chicago he looks to regress here. Cleveland sending their top gun Corey  Kluber to the mound. He has been high quality pitcher all around, but little better at home and the Tribes are 12-4. We'll play against Tampa on the Run line where the Rays are dismal 66-93.

Seattle Marines at Toronto Blue Jays
Yes we're still on this series. The M's had their best chance last night, but nothing doing with their post season hopes dimming Toronto is looking formidable at home. Mariners will start Tom Wilhelmsen and bull pen committee. Toronto will go with Daniel Norris and bull pen corp. As we would take action here on Toronto with Seattle on fade with 3 straight losses or more.

Seattle Mariners at Toronto Blue Jays
I wrote about the Mariners and took a loss with their top road pitcher.  The turning tide has been too much for the Mariners to overcome and to make matters worse the Blue Jays bats have come alive. Mark Burehrle is the Jays top money pitcher in a spot to improve. Taijuan Walker looking to stretch out. He's kept Seattle in the hunt, but without momentum this will be a tough night for Walker.

Kansas City Royals at Cleveland Indians
Cleveland for a short while closed the gap holding on to the conclusion of their suspended game only to drop the second game. The Tribe does have winning record at home, but momentum is weak. Danny Salazar will take the ball, 6-7 with 4.02 ERA, his team winning at home 6-3. Unfortunately he comes into a spot to regress. Yordano Ventura is a road warrior, 7-3 with KC 8-4, pitching 10 quality games out of 12. Going to take Royals with cheese.

Seattle Mariners at Houston Astros
Despite Houston's losing season they put up 10 runs and held the Mariners to 1 run. Dallas Keuchel was masterful going 8 inning and preserving the pen. Now Houston will send another money pitcher Collin McHugh who has been impressive winning 4 in a row and recently beat Seattle 2-1 at Safeco. Seattle's starter Hisashi Iwakuma is showing signs of weakening. Houston took the first series in Seattle back in Sept. 8th to 10th which started the Mariner's slide, losing the Oakland series and splitting the Angles series. However this Seattle team still in the post season run has played better away, 8-1 as road favorites, 9-1 after allowing 5 runs or more, with 16-5 record following a loss.  Houston is 17-48 after opponent scores 2 runs or less. Iwakuma on a bounce back spot pitching 10-3 on the road.  Seattle in need of this win will force their will.

Hey gang how you guys doing? I've been having health issues this season and ended up making a one week stay at the hospital. I'm glad that's over. Hope to make some noise down the stretch.

San Diego Padres at Arizona Diamondbacks
Game 1 of this series was a slug fest with the Pads holding on 6-5 and easily sailing Over the 7.5 total.  Today the line gets tighter and total lower. The Padres showed better pitching and they will send Tyson Ross with 22 quality starts out of 30 games. He has been outstanding at home, but not so away. He is also high Under total pitcher with better than 65% Under away, better than 70% against right hand pitching. Chase Anderson and the Diamondbacks are having a tough time trying to stop the mounting losses. Chase is 2-5 in last 7 starts and the Diamondbacks have dropped 7 Ina row. Their last win was at San Diego on Sept. 4th. Matter of fact that was a series win and Diamondbacks did it in dominant fashion.  Anderson is much better at home and this is a bounce back start. We side with the slight home dog Arizona and hold off on the total with declining number.

Arizona Diamondbacks at Washington Nationals
We have a heavy chalk game which I'm not considering the sides at all, but the run line and total. We're fading Zona on run line, not getting into the details, but we all know the Nats are rolling and they are positive on run line wins. More so are the Diamondbacks terrible run line loss numbers and Nuno taking the mound away usually ends in run line loss. The other take is the Over with Zim going for the Nats. He has been absolutely Over in his appearance and we see at least 8 runs combined.

Philadelphia Phillies at San Francisco Giants
This game will feature NL East basement Philadelphia Phillies in game two at S.F. Giants. Game one pitcher's dual with Phillies Cole Hamels and Giants Madison Bumgardner both going 7 innings you'd think it live up to low scoring, grinding type of game, but the Under did not hold. Low 6 was doomed in the 8th when score became tied at 3-3. Even the first 5 inning Under lost with score of 1-4. The Total maybe meaningless to these teams except for the fact S.F. lost leading after 7th which is one of those rare baseball occurrence, especially for the Giants at home, blowing the Under.  S.F. losing in extra inning making them 3-7 in last 10.  It'll be critical to take today's game and Hudson has high expectation to get it done. However Hudson having trouble getting the wins and though Philadelphia's Kendrick is getting knocked around he does come into a bounce back spot. We like the match up to produce runs. Philadelphia ranked second in Over's and they are better on the road.

Seattle Mariners at Detroit Tigers
Tonight our thought are on momentum money dogs and that's the Mariners winners of 8 out of last 10. They are profitable team with extremely good run line return. Detroit are not and they have won two in a row, but that only salvaged the Pittsburgh series and they are 4 wins out of last 10. Rick Porcello for Detroit has been pitching well, but wins have not come easy. Even excluding the loss from his relief appearance the Tigers have dropped 4 out of 6 with Porcello on the mound.  James Paxton has only 22 innings since returning, but he's getting the job done and now looks stretched out.
We taking the Mariners.

Cincinnati Reds at Colorado Rockies
Let's play the pitching angle. The Reds sending a weakening All Star, Alfredo Simon 12-7 with 3.08 ERA, but unable to win since the break. He is not the same pitcher we saw in the first half and strike to walk ratio is terrible. Coors Field altitude is not going to help and the Rockies are not the same team at home. Rox coining home from bad road trip, 1-5,  but they are much tougher 28-30 at home and Reds are 28-31on the road. Colorado has their money pitcher on the mound, Jorge De La Rosa  11-8 with 4.34 ERA.  His wins come at home, 7-2, and the Rockies are 8-2. Colorado 20-8 last 28 meetings against Cincinnati in Denver.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Arizona Diamondbacks
We have NL Central contending Pittsburgh on the road against Arizona Diamondbacks. The D-Backs are 48-62 and 14 games back of front runner Los Angeles. Arizona doesn't have much to play for, but the fact these guys are Major Leaguers. Any losing team is capable of taking down a contender, maybe the costly error or the lone hero in the line up or the pitchers or the umps, there are so many variables. The Diamondbacks Chase Anderson is on a roll going 19 innings in last 3 games with 1.89 ERA and 21 strikeouts. He carved the Reds in his last start. Opposite is Vance Worley with 0.98 WHIP on the road. We like Pittsburgh. The Bucks are very good 4-1 after scoring 5 or more in last 5. 12-4 as road favorite of -110 to -150, 17-6 against losing teams.  The D-Backs 3-13 as home dog of +110 to +150, 5-11 against winning teams.

It's also opportunities for unexpected upsets, like the recent Oakland Houston series, so we turn our attention to Miami where the line is tight and newly acquired pitcher from Houston Jarred Cosart.  He has been rocky as of late and we like the Reds pitcher Matt Latos better. Matt is lacking innings, but he is looking good on the road with the Reds domination over Miami, last night was 6 straight going to last season, they maybe turning the corner here.

It's zSaturday matinee at Wrigley Field.  Catch that Redline to Addison stop and make sure to get there in time. The Cards are reeling and letting last nights game get away has to sting. Although the mighty Cardinals has bounced backed from these type of losses in the past their game against losing teams have not faired well this season and second half has started 1-5. The pitching also favors the Cubs today with Jake Arrieta on the mound. The Cubs are 4-1 when Jake pitches at home.  St Louis pitcher Shelby Miller is in a funk and opposing hitters are making him pay. Lay the favorite.

San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers
San Diego has been a team good pitchers feast on and we have a good pitcher on the mound for L.A. in Clayton Kershaw. He's putting up zeros and looking to extend the Padres offensive misery. The Dodgers are overwhelming favorites and most will agree this should be a game for Dodges to get better and keep the pressure on the Giants. However the Friers sending a good arm from a Cuban comer to counter with Odrisamer Despaigne. He has 19 innings under his  belt, all against NL West and very effective.  The Dodgers do not impress at home and they have been on a slide. We look for the Padres to steal this one.

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets
The Mets are making a stand at home. They returned to NY and took the Texas series. Now they won game one as a home dog and position themselves to go ahead on the Braves. Atlanta will not be easy tonight as their all star pitcher Julio Teheran takes the mound. He is pitching 16 quality games out of 18. Julio's game does diminish on the road, but he has faced quality opponents and one outing in Coors Field. Tonight his opponent Jacob Degrom has been struggling on the mound. His home numbers are terrible 0-4  and his recent WHIP has ballooned to 1.525 The Mets are 2-8 when Degrom takes the ball and of his last 6 losses only one game covered +1.5 run line. We will go with Atlanta run line tonight.

The Phillies are reeling and they need a stop. Taking the ball  is Cole Hamels who is 2-4, but 10 quality starts out of 13 and on the road perfect 6 out of 6. The Phillies behind Cole has warmed in June going 4 out of 6 although 4 of those starts ended in ND.  This also looks to be spot for Hamels to improve. However behind everything I like about Phillies pitching today our money backs the home dog Miami and Tom Koehler. He just took a ND against Hamels in Philadelphia pitching 7 hit 2 run game. Koehler showing return on 6 quality starts out of 8 at home. Miami has logged three losses in a row, but expect much better showing at home. Take the home dog.

Cleveland Indians at Los Angeles Dodgers
This line has tightened up quickly and there's good amount riding on both sides. Houston sends their best money pitcher and he certainly has higher quality games then Dan Haren. The line also points to Houston as Kluber is better on the road coming off a impressive win against Arizona. Haren has two No Decisions in a row and the pen looks to factor into this game. Houston to sneak off with game one does sound appealing, but this one looks like a regression game for Kluber and improvement for Haren, We have the Dodgers  to climb into the first place in NL West. Cincinnati Reds at S.F. Giants
The Giants are fading. Once one of the hottest club around running away with NL West has tanked losing their 9.5 game lead.  Now the Dodgers are on their heels with nowhere to go, but to fight their way back. The Giants will need their starters to get going and nobody knows better than Matt Cain on the hill. His first half misery continues into 2014, 1-6 record with 1-3 home record, Cain's last 3 starts were losses and last win was recorded on 6 of June. The Giants are riddled with injuries and they will host the hot streaking Cincinnati Reds. featuring Alfredo Simon who is a hot commodity at 10-3 and 7-1 away. The Reds already taken game 1 looks to be in great position. However there seems to be strong home resistance for the Reds moneyline and Cain is in a spot to improve here. We're going to lay the short favorite with Giants

The weekend has come and gone, but the games continue on shaping the season as we enter the summer.

Chicago Cubs at Miami Marlins
The Cubs take the Philadelphia series on the road and split the road series losing to Pittsburgh winning against the Phillies. Chicago has been the basement team in NL Central, but they're recent road win has to be encouraging. Today Chicago will send Jason Hammel who has been in the money. He is a quality producing pitcher and backers have done well. However Chicago will go into one of the most hostile parks in National League and face Miami"s number 2 money pitcher Tom Koehler. Although 5-5 he is much better at home with 1.05 WHIP and coming off two road games where he kept it close enough for Miami team win. He should have a quality start today and we expect the Marlins to take care of business at home. We also like late inning Over as tonight's number has gone 4-1 in last 5.

Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles
Camden Yards baby! The O's are on the move, 4 out of last 6 and 3 out of last 4, winning the Boston series and winning the Toronto opener. Since giving up 11 runs on June 8th Baltimore pitching has shut it down allowing only 3 runs in last 4 games. Today Ubaldo Jimenez 2-7 takes the ball and he is the weak link in otherwise money making rotation. The Blue Jays have stumbled losing 5 out of last 6 and 3 in a row. Today's pitcher Drew Hutchinson was knocked out in 3 inning in his last start. However he is much better on the road with the Jays going 6-2. We will go against the Orioles. San Diego Padres at Chicago White Sox
Thumbing through the charts I always look at the money makers, not the front runners, but at this stage of the season teams are still setting themselves in position. Right now Oakland, Detroit, St Louis is falling off the money and Chicago WS, Minnesota and Miami are moving up. This is more of who's under the radar kind of chart. Out of the teams stated I like the Padres at White Sox game with Ian Kennedy taking the mound for San Diego. Ian coming off a win against the Cubs pitched a good game solid 6 inning of work 2 hit 1 run quality start and that was a rare home win. Kennedy has shown consistency on the road, but overall his numbers are 3-6 with the Padres going 4-7. John Danks for the home team is improving. His whip is down to 1.07 and the White Sox are on the rise. Going with the South siders.

Game 3 AL West match! Started with Young out doing Skaggs then the Angels bats backed up Weaver and now we have two good pitchers on the mound with C.J. Wilson going for the Halos and King Felix for the Mariners. The Angels are on a roll right now winning 7 out of last 10 and C.J. at 6-3 is pitching 70% quality games. He's beaten KC and shut down Tampa in his last two starts. On the other side Felix is on a 3 game win streak. Pitching deep and going through the line up like butter. Looking at these two pitchers Felix doesn't have much room to improve tonight, but he does tend to go on a roll whereas C.J. has not been going through the line up as easily as Felix and his non quality games have come on the road. We going with King Felix and the Mariners to cool the hot hitting Angels to take this at SafeCo.

We look to the race in American League East.  The Rays are struggling to keep heads above water at 23-28 just couple of games ahead of bottom feeding Boston. Coming off a crushing defeat in game one of this series game two will feature Alex Cobb for Tampa who has returned to the rotation in a win against Oakland against hot streaking Mark Buehrle. Now Cobb has not given up any earned runs since the start of this season, but not quite back in form and he'll be getting stretched out here. He is lacking quality starts unable to go deep, 3 out of 10 starts and 1 out of 6 at home, despite Pirates team win. The Yanks are struggling with 4 losses out of last 5. It seems like just back 1 week ago the Yankees pitching was shutting down opponents and winning games. Now 3 out of those 4 losses comes at allowing 5 runs or more? Yes, the arms are over used at this point and Adam Dunn spoiled David Robertson's chance to close for the second time in May. If you look at Yankees last 10 games their starters have gone 7 inning or more only twice. Matter of fact New York starters has gone 5 inning or less 50% in their last 10 games. Today's matinee will have Yankees sending Left hand pitcher Vidal Nuno in 7th start since his promotion. He has not gone more than 6 inning and has not thrown more than 82 pitches this year. Most likely New York will have to let him go closer to 100 pitches this time around. He'll need to survive 6 or more inning to relive Yankees pen. It will be a tall order.  The White Sox will send veteran John Danks who's been getting banged around this season, but much of that has come on the road. Danks in friendly confines of US Cellular Field is pitching 75% quality games. John Danks in a bounce back spot and we like to Chicago to continue tormenting the Yankees. FYI the White Sox has moved into third place on the money rankings. Let's go Pale Hose, looking to hand the first consecutive 3 games loss in a series to New York this season.

We are looking at an old angle which is purely statistical in nature, but the match up is not bad either.

Los Angeles Dodgers at New York Mets
If you have been tracking this series you know the Mets have been dismal with runners on bases. Despite their hitting advantage New York has dropped first two of three and now they face Zack Grenike looking to be the first 8 game winning pitcher. Zack is one of the games elites and runs will come at a premium. He is coming off a dominant start in Arizona going 8 inning scattering 5 hits and no runs, but considering his quality games drops to 40% on the road this would be a spot to going against him. Jon Niese taking the ball for New York may not rank in the elites, but he is pitching quality games. Coming off his first non quality start in 8 consecutive games this is a bounce back spot for Niese. Dodgers weak defense has been masked so far. As for the old angle, this is a game with 75% public laying money with the Dodgers. That is a FADE. Qualifies with home dog against a sweep with quality pitcher on the mound. Keep your eyes on the money ranking the Mets are #14 and the Dodgers are #21.

Back to the Yard. The Tigers stop the slide taking the series opener. Round two will feature Drew Smyly coming off a rough outing against Houston, but normally is reliable and tough against Baltimore. The Tigers excel on the road at 9-4 and so far 3-1 against the East. However they open as slight under dog which is a rarity and this spot has finished 1-1. The trend points to Detroit as Jimenez has only 1 quality start out of 7 and none at home. Again this trend it also looking to turn. Baltimore in midst of surge looks very dangerous and under rated. All the quality of a team we like to put our money on. Cleveland Indians at Tampa Rays
Tampa's got problems with 4 game slide. Is there some sense of urgency? some resolve? The unexpected defeat with Price and Archer on the mound the Rays will send Erik Bedard. The Canadian is a well traveled lefty who is coming off a dominant game against the Yankees, second 1 run games back to back, and Cleveland has issues with left hand pitchers. But the Rays are to be faded. Bedard in spot to regress and McCallister looks to buck his trend. This line should be watched all the way down to the minute as Tampa stop in on everyone's mind.

The O's are 1-5 when Jimenez takes the ball, whopping 5.19 ERA and 1.56 WHIP.  Although one sided looking proposition and Baltimore will be hard pressed in this spot, the Rays are not cashing in their runners. David Price is alternating wins and losses. The wins are there for him, but opposition are hitting. Price comes into this spot following a win at NY Yankees. Jimenez comes in following a 7 inning shut out at Minnesota getting his first win and Jimenez is a pitcher who has been improving with the progress of season. I can't say he's going to improve, but he has success against Tampa. We like this game to go Over the declining number and like the odds with Baltimore.

Miami sending Henderson Alvarez who would qualify as the weak link in otherwise money making rotation for the Marlins. But Alvarez showing what he could do in Marlins park. He has shut out Seattle and kept it close enough for the home team to beat Atlanta. Matter of fact Alvarez is keeping Marlins in striking distance in a one run loss in other two ND's. The hot L.A. Dodgers with Beckett lost their first road game of this trip now 3-1 and even in their loss Beckett threw for 7 inning. Offense is still robust and they are the best road team in the majors. The pitching advantage will go to Paul Maholm who is 3-1 with 1.93 ERA against the fish since 2012. Jacob Turner just activated from DL and has no record, but the Dodgers 5-2 from last season including 3-1 in Maimi. The Marlins maybe 13-4 at home, but they're getting their 4 game home streak broken tonight.

MLB Tuesday

Re-rack'em with 15 games on board.
Oakland at Texas
There was the Rangers domination over the A's, or maybe it's the road team thing, going until last night when Darvish went down against Oakland in his shortest outing this season. Gray was fantastic for the A's allowing only 3 hits and no runs scored in his first career shutout. Now tonight Texas will send Martin Perez, he's coming off two consecutive shutouts, one of them being Oaklnad, but I do like the A's getting a second look at Perez. Yes, Texas has been dangerous off a loss and good against lefties. However Kazmir is battle tested and looks like another Bartolo Colon in the making. We'll go with the A's.

L.A. Angels at N.Y. Yankees
N.Y., despite all the talk of demise the Yanks are doing fine. They're on top of AL East and showing what all good teams do, win at home. The Japanese acquisition Tanaka has been impressive and batters not knowing this pitcher is an added edge. He's pitching deep, has good stuff and fearless. At 7-4 home record the Yankees are a heavy favorite.  However the Angels tonight will send one of their better money pitcher, Richards, who is a road warrior. L.A. better on the road than at home. The line up matches well and this will probably be the toughest line up Tanka has seen so far. Rolling with the road dog.

MLB Friday

Hey fellas, howz everyone doing? It's Friday and I'm so busy can't get all my feelers out. I don't like to chase lines and don't like to fall behind Totals, but that's been the case for games I was watching. One game I'm going to roll with tonight.

Kansas City Royals at Baltimore Orioles
We'll take the game at Camden Yards, although it'll be cool and breezey with good chance of thunder storm around game time. Delays are expected, but if it gets off the O's bats are hot and they are getting runs, but KCR have a good arm with Ventura on a bounce back spot against very pedestrian Jimenez.

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets
Tonight it's Santana against Colon and if you looked at Bart's decline backer should be concerned. The Braves hold 58% win against the Mets over last 3 season. Both pitchers off a rare over exceeding the number by better than 2.5 runs. The play is on Braves and Under.

Colorado Rockies at San Diego Padres
It's a lefty righty match up at Petco. Right hand Franklin Morales for the visiting Rox and lefty Ian Kennedy for the Pads. Both of these pitchers are capable of getting the ball to 7th inning and they've both shown flashes, but trending Over. Diaz behind the plate has averaged over 9 runs. Morales has already been roughed up in April. Kennedy is doing better, but hittable. We'll see how friendly this park is today.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Cincinnati Reds
At the Great American Ballpark the conditions will be cloudy with likely showers later and the wind will be blowing out to the right field. Homer Baily taking the ball for the Reds was rocked twice by St Louis which now extends his shaky outing back to his last two games last season. What team did that to Baily? It was the Pirates. The Pirates will send Wandy Rodriguez who also has 2 losses however the Pirates have been very tough in division series. Pittsburgh also coming off a loss scoring 1 run or less is another good sign. Taking the Road dog.

Oakland A's at Seattle Mariners
Got a low scoring game in the horizon. Runs will be hard to come by today at SafeCo and that's how we're playing it. Young has not looked better in a long time and Kazmir's going to eat innings, looked for the pitchers to battle.

Here's a match up with old rivalry.

Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees
There are always stories behind this match up and tonight is no different. First series of 2014 between these two clubs and Jacoby Ellsbury making his Yankee start against his former club. Ellsbury's replacement at Boston, Jackie Brady Jr., is on a hot streak. Yanks dropped a close one against Baltimore and Boston took the series against Texas in late inning rally. Buchholtz starting for Boston is coming off a tough outing against Milwaukee and Pineda for New York had a fine start, his first since 2011, however taking the loss. We like the Yankees at home. Should be a hard fought game. Red Sox has not seen much of Pineda.

Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies home opener with Kyle Kendrick getting the start 2 years in a row. Kendrick coming off a quality start against the Rangers. The Brewers will send Kyle Lohse also coming off a quality start. Both pitchers ended in losing games, but in our view it's Lohse to step up his game. Got in on the over night line.

Tampa Bay Rays at Kansas City Royals
The Rays for the past 4 seasons are the best road team in the Majors at 176-149 and they will send their top road pitcher Matt Moore, last season went 10-1 with 2.74 ERA in 16 road start. He started 8-0 last year had club record 1.1 ERA in April winning 5 games. However the Royals give him trouble and Tampa has trouble with road openers. We're going with Jason Vargas and KCR.

We're going to stay on this series.

L.A. Dodgers at San Diego Padres
Tonight is game 3 with L.A. sending veteran right hand pitcher Dan Haren, who is on close watch with diminishing performance. Dan will rely on his control and experience, but opposing batters have been patient driving up his pitch count and his fast ball in the 80's are hittable. The Padres will send Tyson Ross looking to make an impact.  Ross has a nasty slider flashing signs of things to come this season with high strike out ratio, he struck out 10 in his last 10 inning of spring tune up, and addition of improved change up is going to make him tougher to hit this year.  We're fading the Haren experiment to be short lived.

Sorry guys, missed Monday's post, but subscribers cashed on Cleveland as the dog along with White Sox Runline -1.5 and domination by Miami. Let's move it along.

L.A. Dodgers at San Diego Padres
Game two of this series will feature the Dodgers true no#2 pitcher, Zack Greinke against Ian Kennedy. If you recall this match up from last year these two met when Kennedy was still with the Diamondbacks and batters getting beaned clearing the benches, got Kennedy suspended and Greinke on DL. While it's a interesting story line the media will play with we're more concerned of Greike not being in form and Kennedy settling in at his home park. The Dodgers middle of the line up are not up to speed and though Dodgers hold the edge Bud Black's club will keep you in check. The pitching will set the tone at Pet Co and the low number indicates Vegas feels another low scoring game.

Here we go 2014! Every team in in contention. The Dodgers lost their last game of spring training to the ALWest Angels as Dan Harren was hit hard for six runs, but everyone else held their own. L.A. Loaded the bus after the game and went straight to San Diego. The Pads are off to a start with depleted line up. Going with Ryu and the Dodgers.

Grapefruit Game Friday

3-2 +850

A beautiful day in Clearwater Florida. That can only mean game day in Bright House Field the home of Philadelphia Philles.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Philadelphia Phillies
The close proximity of these two training camp makes this match ideal for both teams to have extended weapons available at their disposal. Phils will give another go with Kyle Kendrick, the veteran right hander, and the Pirates will send Charlie Morton, who has just received a contract extension, having a very good spring. Morton looks to be a key member of 2014 Bucs rotation. In his last start held the powerful Tigers line up in check. We have several Bucs with double digit plate appearance against Kendrick and the road favorite looks good today.

Sup people? We're back in Arizona, some clouds in the 83F degree range with little wind, perfect game condition. Starting to notice the rise in level of play. It's nearing the Opener and some teams looks a bit behind on schedule....

Milwaukee Brewers at Texas Rangers
We feel the Rangers are one of those teams lagging behind. Although hovering around 10th ranked power team for 2014 season the Rangers are a team in the works. Taking the Dog Brewers, Yovani Gallardo working his way back will be a key member of Milwaukee rotation. His innings are being extended and he should perform to impress.

There was a play we were watching since the open, but we're passing today in baseball. The nature of exhibition games being high risk is one thing, you need added information to make a solid pick and we're getting some mixed signals. We are ahead of the game and there's no need to give it back. Sometimes it pays to fold'em.  See you in the next round.

BTW
We were looking at the Pads in the late game. You know the Pads and the Mariners share the facility at Peoria sports complex and the same home field. They could throw anybody into this game.

We stay off this game and the final is 5-5 push.

Game 3 in Spring 2014. Going back to the Cactus League play.

To Mesa, Arizona. Cubs Park baby! We get another adjustment game for Jorge De La Rosa and maybe we're in for some improvement. It's been his worst Spring start for the Rox and Cubs Park has not been kind to pitchers. Chicago will send Travis Wood. In contrast to De La Rosa's bloated 9.64 ERA in 2 starts and 4 innings Travis is pitching in form with 1 hit no runs in 1 start with 3 innings. Keep in mind the starting pitchers will have limited impact on the outcome and we are speculating the pen.

Welcome to MLB Spring Training Camp

Are you keeping your eyes on the ball? We are warming up in Arizona and Florida with exhibition games under way. Taking in the game at Goodyear Ballpark with the Reds taking on the visiting Dodgers.
Looks like a good line up starting this game, but as always with the Cactus league the starting line up will not finish. So we will take the road dog Dodgers with Ryu to start against Bailey. Homer's second start and the first one looked rusty. We like the Dodgers to get on board and hold on to this one.
