MLB Friday

San Diego Padres at Chicago White Sox
Thumbing through the charts I always look at the money makers, not the front runners, but at this stage of the season teams are still setting themselves in position. Right now Oakland, Detroit, St Louis is falling off the money and Chicago WS, Minnesota and Miami are moving up. This is more of who's under the radar kind of chart. Out of the teams stated I like the Padres at White Sox game with Ian Kennedy taking the mound for San Diego. Ian coming off a win against the Cubs pitched a good game solid 6 inning of work 2 hit 1 run quality start and that was a rare home win. Kennedy has shown consistency on the road, but overall his numbers are 3-6 with the Padres going 4-7. John Danks for the home team is improving. His whip is down to 1.07 and the White Sox are on the rise. Going with the South siders.

MLB Thursday

Kansas City at Toronto
The Jays keep on keeping on and KC stands in its way. I understand Toronto's offense in a relentless groove, but they're giving up tons of runs too. We're going to ride the Over in tonight's match up with Dickey and Shields looking for late inning runs. We are not going against James Shields as he is capable of going deep, but KC are visiting and that gives us the scoring edge.

MLB Wednesday

Los Angeles Angels at Seattle Mariners
Game 3 AL West match! Started with Young out doing Skaggs then the Angels bats backed up Weaver and now we have two good pitchers on the mound with C.J. Wilson going for the Halos and King Felix for the Mariners. The Angels are on a roll right now winning 7 out of last 10 and C.J. at 6-3 is pitching 70% quality games. He's beaten KC and shut down Tampa in his last two starts. On the other side Felix is on a 3 game win streak. Pitching deep and going through the line up like butter. Looking at these two pitchers Felix doesn't have much room to improve tonight, but he does tend to go on a roll whereas C.J. has not been going through the line up as easily as Felix and his non quality games have come on the road. We going with King Felix and the Mariners to cool the hot hitting Angels to take this at SafeCo.

MLBTuesday

Tampa Rays at Toronto Blue Jays
We look to the race in American League East.  The Rays are struggling to keep heads above water at 23-28 just couple of games ahead of bottom feeding Boston. Coming off a crushing defeat in game one of this series game two will feature Alex Cobb for Tampa who has returned to the rotation in a win against Oakland against hot streaking Mark Buehrle. Now Cobb has not given up any earned runs since the start of this season, but not quite back in form and he'll be getting stretched out here. It'll be an improvement over Beddard, but will it enough to stop the Jays offense ? We don't think so.
Rolling with the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.

MLB Sunday

Washington Nationals at Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates are doing much better thanks to Washington offense going quiet. Now riding four game win streak the Pirates will look for Liriano to get a W. The Pirates have won 5 of last 6 Francisco Liriano starts, however Liriano himself have collected no wins this season. He is lacking quality starts unable to go deep, 3 out of 10 starts and 1 out of 6 at home, despite Pirates team win. The Bucs have provided plenty of support behind Liriano, but Doug Fister will be a tough customer at PNC Park. Going with the Nationals to bounce back today in Sunday day game.

MLB Saturday

New York Yankees at Chicago White Sox
The Yanks are struggling with 4 losses out of last 5. It seems like just back 1 week ago the Yankees pitching was shutting down opponents and winning games. Now 3 out of those 4 losses comes at allowing 5 runs or more? Yes, the arms are over used at this point and Adam Dunn spoiled David Robertson's chance to close for the second time in May. If you look at Yankees last 10 games their starters have gone 7 inning or more only twice. Matter of fact New York starters has gone 5 inning or less 50% in their last 10 games. Today's matinee will have Yankees sending Left hand pitcher Vidal Nuno in 7th start since his promotion. He has not gone more than 6 inning and has not thrown more than 82 pitches this year. Most likely New York will have to let him go closer to 100 pitches this time around. He'll need to survive 6 or more inning to relive Yankees pen. It will be a tall order.  The White Sox will send veteran John Danks who's been getting banged around this season, but much of that has come on the road. Danks in friendly confines of US Cellular Field is pitching 75% quality games. John Danks in a bounce back spot and we like to Chicago to continue tormenting the Yankees. FYI the White Sox has moved into third place on the money rankings. Let's go Pale Hose, looking to hand the first consecutive 3 games loss in a series to New York this season.

MLB Thursday

We are looking at an old angle which is purely statistical in nature, but the match up is not bad either.

Los Angeles Dodgers at New York Mets
If you have been tracking this series you know the Mets have been dismal with runners on bases. Despite their hitting advantage New York has dropped first two of three and now they face Zack Grenike looking to be the first 8 game winning pitcher. Zack is one of the games elites and runs will come at a premium. He is coming off a dominant start in Arizona going 8 inning scattering 5 hits and no runs, but considering his quality games drops to 40% on the road this would be a spot to going against him. Jon Niese taking the ball for New York may not rank in the elites, but he is pitching quality games. Coming off his first non quality start in 8 consecutive games this is a bounce back spot for Niese. Dodgers weak defense has been masked so far. As for the old angle, this is a game with 75% public laying money with the Dodgers. That is a FADE. Qualifies with home dog against a sweep with quality pitcher on the mound. Keep your eyes on the money ranking the Mets are #14 and the Dodgers are #21.

MLB Tuesday

Detroit Tigers at Baltimore Orioles
Back to the Yard. The Tigers stop the slide taking the series opener. Round two will feature Drew Smyly coming off a rough outing against Houston, but normally is reliable and tough against Baltimore. The Tigers excel on the road at 9-4 and so far 3-1 against the East. However they open as slight under dog which is a rarity and this spot has finished 1-1. The trend points to Detroit as Jimenez has only 1 quality start out of 7 and none at home. Again this trend it also looking to turn. Baltimore in midst of surge looks very dangerous and under rated. All the quality of a team we like to put our money on. We will go for Baltimore to knot up this series

MLB Saturday

People, what is going on? It's Saturday, little quiet for a Saturday, but we do have games all day long. I'm keeping busy. Didn't go out for lunch, that's for wimps, double checked my charts and made my calls. So nah I'm not lounging drinking beers on the couch.

Cleveland Indians at Tampa Rays
Tampa's got problems with 4 game slide. Is there some sense of urgency? some resolve? The unexpected defeat with Price and Archer on the mound the Rays will send Erik Bedard. The Canadian is a well traveled lefty who is coming off a dominant game against the Yankees, second 1 run games back to back, and Cleveland has issues with left hand pitchers. But the Rays are to be faded. Bedard in spot to regress and McCallister looks to buck his trend. This line should be watched all the way down to the minute as Tampa stop in on everyone's mind.

MLB Thursday

Baltimore Orioles at Tampa Rays
The Rays Ace will take the mound today and David Price gets much love at -168 home favorite. Baltimore sending Ubaldo Jimenez the biggest money loser in the rotation. The O's are 1-5 when Jimenez takes the ball, whopping 5.19 ERA and 1.56 WHIP.  Although one sided looking proposition and Baltimore will be hard pressed in this spot, the Rays are not cashing in their runners. David Price is alternating wins and losses. The wins are there for him, but opposition are hitting. Price comes into this spot following a win at NY Yankees. Jimenez comes in following a 7 inning shut out at Minnesota getting his first win and Jimenez is a pitcher who has been improving with the progress of season. I can't say he's going to improve, but he has success against Tampa. We like this game to go Over the declining number and like the odds with Baltimore.

MLB Tuesday

New York Mets at Miami Marlins
The ageless wonder Bartolo Colon taking the mound for visiting N.Y. Mets. The Mets are 16-15, 8-7 on the road. N.L. East is tight with these two teams separated by one game and Bart is pitching quality games, 4 out of 6. However the wins have not come easy. Miami sending Henderson Alvarez who would qualify as the weak link in otherwise money making rotation for the Marlins. But Alvarez showing what he could do in Marlins park. He has shut out Seattle and kept it close enough for the home team to beat Atlanta. Matter of fact Alvarez is keeping Marlins in striking distance in a one run loss in other two ND's. Miami keeping it hot.

MLB Saturday

With all the events going on today it's so easy to get carried away. A word of caution here.

LOS ANGELES DODGERS at MIAMI MARLINS
The hot L.A. Dodgers with Beckett lost their first road game of this trip now 3-1 and even in their loss Beckett threw for 7 inning. Offense is still robust and they are the best road team in the majors. The pitching advantage will go to Paul Maholm who is 3-1 with 1.93 ERA against the fish since 2012. Jacob Turner just activated from DL and has no record, but the Dodgers 5-2 from last season including 3-1 in Maimi. The Marlins maybe 13-4 at home, but they're getting their 4 game home streak broken tonight.
