MLB 2005 Season is Done

It was a great Major League Baseball season and I'm sad to see it go.
Chicago must be hopping and glad for them.
This might of been the last time for Roger Clemens, he will always be one of the greats. Biggio and Bagwell, how long they waited and how much longer can they wait? Brad Lidge, Andy Pettitte, Roy Oswalt as nasty as they are.....
Morgan Ensberg, where did your swing go? Lance Berkman, not enough.

Contreras, Buehrle, Garland, Garcia, what a rotation to go down in World Series history. Podsednik, terrific table setter. Dye, quietly killing the opponents.
Konerko, the big gun. AJ, always in the middle of something jinxing the opponents.

I know Football is in full swing and that's where most of the US funds are trading, but I will be analyzing NBA & NHL so please do drop in for a visit http://moneyplaysnba.blogspot.com/ http://moneyplaysnhl.blogspot.com/

I hope everybody is in the Black.
Thanks for your support and comments.

World Series Game 4

My thoughts on today's game. With the World Series on the line road warrior Freddy "G" going against Brandon "Give me the Ball at Home" Backe.
After a long game, 5 hours 41 minutes longest World Series game record, what woud be the angle on this game? I wouldn't say such a long game is exhausting for the players, but I would say it is draining and it will be a factor today.
Who will be the fresh player out of the bunch? The starting pitchers.
Roof open or closed my take today.

CWS/HOU UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -109 (W)

Knocked in the last play of the season.
Cheers to the boys, Batis and Betcrime!

World Series Game 3

Game's back in Houston, you know the roof will be closed and loud.
I think Oswalt is top of his class when it comes to attacking the batters.
I like the home team, but I'll look to capture the value in the middle.

CWS +169 (W)

White Sox money has improved to +172, but that's ok we'll leave that alone and wait for In-Game plays.

For pure speculation on this game I think Minute Maid park with baseball friendly conditions will do wonders for pitching and defense.
I think this will be a tight one.

CWS/HOU UNDER 3.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +104 (L)

Open roof at Minute Maid, someone heavy on Over in Texas?
1-0 Houston leading bottom of 2nd. Watch the line on CWS In-Game.

OK, I got CWS +800 (W) bottom 4th.

Now waiting for 5th to end to hedge with Astros.

Astros +160 for 1.5 units (L) May add to this as game moves on.

HOUSTON +178 for 0.5 units (L) (top 7th)

HOUSTON +252 for 0.5 units (L) (top 8th)

Whooa, Top of the 9th all tied up and I'm locked in on both sides.
Sox is the bigger catch.

The final account looks like this:
CWS ML ....1.69 units
HOU/CWS U3.5... -1.00 unit
CWS ML ... 8.00 units
HOU ML ... -1.50 units
HOU ML ... -0.5 units

World Series Game 2

South siders pitchers continue to roll. Today's conditions will test the defense and although the moisture in the air will slow the ball, the wind will help the long ball. Pettitte has struggled at the Cell.

OVER 3.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -110 (W)

Today's game was excellent for "Live In-Game" as leads switched places.
I just can't commit to posting the Live plays the windows are too short.
If you play, keep in mind to take the odds and not give them as a general rule.
The Odds will fluctuate, look ahead of the batting order and relief pitchers in the pen. Remember you are positioning with game expiration closing in.

World Series 2005

Here we are, these are the teams that will fight for the crown.
So the TV ratings are expected to be lower than last year and football is taking in all the money action. That's OK, the true fans and sharps will be on this game.
Love this pitching match up, can't wait, I think the first half total will be contained. If I need a pitcher to set the tone in a big game .............................. I'm backing Clemens.

Arbitrage NLCS Game 6 Play

Arbitrage is the practice of taking advantage of a state of imbalance between two or more markets, a combination of matching lines are struck that exploit the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices.

I'm going to touch on this subject without much explanation.
There are P2P exchanges, but if you have a Pinny account you may have noticed "MLB Live" addition to your MLB wager selections.
This play will be active during the game and positions will be taken between innings. I will play this selection with the goal of capturing the profit in game.

Pre-game position:
HOU PK FIRST FIVE INNINGS +141 (W)
HOU ML +142 (W)

Stand by your computers at game time.

I'm back. Nothing happening unless you feel the Over. Value dropped on Houston. See what happens.

Top of 3rd Astros on board. ....Oooops 2 nothing now.
I will play the Cards in the middle of this inning.

Got Cards +190
You may want to leave some room to hit them again on higher odds.

2nd hit. Cards +227

Lane clears the wall. I think that's enough on Cards.
Nothing is a lock except when your on both sides as Under dogs.

Mulder knocked out in 4 2/3 innings. Keep your eyes on the Totals line.

Total is not showing me any value. I'm passing.

Enjoy the rest of the game.

Astros win! Congrats BetCrime on the Big Dog NL Champs.
Nice Under call Batis.

See you back for the World Series.

Almost forgot todays profit.
2-2 *hedged play gain +0.83 units. The play itself was not as interesting as I thought, would of been better off just letting the play ride.

Pettitte vs Carpenter

You know the Sharps are coming in on the low total backing the Over.
I understand the Over thinking with 7.5 dropping to 7, looking at both pitchers in recent games Over's have cashed, but if there was a theme for today's game it is pitching. You got to respect them Sharps though.

STL/HOU UNDER 3.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +109(W)

That was close, got it with the hook. The game did go Over.
What a ending. BetCrimes holding huge odds on Houston NLSC win, Your celebration will have to wait.

Next game is Oct. 19th back to St Lou so we have a day to chew on this one.

Week Nine Wrap Up

I didn't do a proper week 8 wrap up, it's in the Yanks do or die post, but I'll do it right today. I must say I should of posted the full kill on Angels today instead of the homer first half pick with some half baked hope of Angels surviving.

I've posted another winning week, but feeling blue. Must be autum, kind of sad time of year.

ALCS Angels under the Gun

I love the manager for both of these teams. There is similar dynamics and methodical approach to their game. This is must win for the Angels with Byrd on the mound and the Halos are the Home Underdog today. Angels are not only suspect at bat, all the calls are going against them.
Contreras is pitching his best game since joining MLB.
I question if Angels have what it takes to overcome this game today.

CWS PK FIRST 5 INNINGS -123 (L)

Wow, 2 run rally in the bottom of the 5th to take away my win.
Lets hope Angels will hold on and win.

After moosing my first half play Angels go on to blow the game.
Good thing I played the CWS "Live" in game. I was hedging both sides with huge plus money, but that's a topic by itself.

Red Birds take on Rocket at Minute maid

Dogs are cashing this post season and that tells me the line makers have been on the wrong side. Expecting correction with Rocket as home fav today.

ALCS Game #3

The typical take on today's game is.... Angels rested and fired up with a game they gave away in Chicago. John Lackey has whipped these White Sox and Garland is not only rusty but the Halo has already knocked him around.
That maybe so, but what I see is a bucking trend of low scoring pitchers battle.
Anticipation is pushing down the total which is so dangerous to follow.
Yes the trends are all pointing to the Under making it a nasty pitfall.

Buy the -0.5 run OVER 3.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -130 (W)

NLCS

The Cards have been beating up on Astros, 11-5 this season, and today will send their 22 game winner Carpenter to the mound. For the visiting Astros, red hot Pettitte. Both pitchers are very good, but these low Total, which has worked traditionally, is not coming Under. I think that's the case today with the low total not holding up. I like Pettitte in this spot.

HOU/STL OVER 3.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -114 (W)
HOU/STL OVER 7 -116
(W)
HOU +0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +100 (L)

Cards continue to have their way with Houston. How about Reggie Sanders, this guy comes to play the post season. Well I did think Astros would be the one's in control or at least right along with the Red Birds in the first half so didn't get everything right.

Angels at White Sox

Today the rested south siders will go with Jose Contreras. The big Cuban is one of the hot big game pitcher and the White Sox are licking their chops as the heavy favorite. Byrd doesn't get much notice, but the Sox knows he's not easy to beat.

Angels Win

Yeah Baby! Bring on the White Sox.
Told you that Under 8.5 might hold.

Game 5 Back to Anaheim

This is a hard game to get. I've done just about everything except call Arty Moreno, I'm thinking about it.
You know this is a tough speculation by every measure. I want the Angels to win, but that doesn't make it so.
To get to Colon you hit him early because he improves as the game goes on.
To get to Moose you have to be patient. Somehow I sense these batters will know exactly what their doing today. The game total set at 8.5, low total in AL, might hold. But I'll buy 0.5 points down to crack that 4 in the first 5 innings.

Game 5 LAA/NYY OVER 4 FIRST 5 INNINGS -130 (W)

Unexpected turn of event, but Over cashes hard !
Angels in control.

If you like Hockey

Everybody and their best friend's grandmother is betting on football, but if you feel like dancing to a different tune for a change. Click on the title to NHL blog.

I'm still trying to find a way into todays Yanks vs Angels game 5.

Sports Hedge Fund

Just read Mark Cuban's blog. It's nothing new that's what syndicated play is all about. It doesn't matter that he's a billionaire I think he's just another square, but I am interested to see who Mark thinks is the sharpest and the brightest in the industry. Professional cappers are notoriously tough to track and the Touts only gives you their good record. I'm sure he has his resources.

Maybe I'll post a comment on his blog and advise him to take a look at my plays.

What do you guys think?
If you click on "Sports Hedge Fund" it'll link you to Mark's blog.

Yanks Live or Die

Iron Mike Soccia going about his business doesn't seem to care about the intangibles or at least it doesn't seem to bother his game.
I think the bombers will pull this one out ,but they'll need to scratch and claw today. Chacon is good because of Posada, I expect Posada to ride his pitcher hard today. What will the Angels do in the driver's seat? Bring rock solid fundamental baseball, no mistakes. Both pens rested.

LAA +0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +129
LAA/NYY UNDER 10 -116

Game plays out just the way I saw it coming, might be a sign of things to come.
Week 8 post season picks are W5 - L2 - P1

I didn't post wager units, but using 1 unit for all plays total gain +4.00 units, including one side wager on NHL. I was planning to conclude the posts, but I'm back by popular demand. Not bad for a short posted play week.
My plays in MLB post season are defensive in nature.
I am starting to shift my focus to NHL and NBA.
Hope everyone had a good week.

National League Ball

Did you see the Angels yesterday doing it to the Big Unit? In the Bronx? In the rain? Playing small ball, National League ball Mike Soccia was brought up on. But Byrd was touched and 5 run lead disappearing shows no lead is safe with the Yanks. I wish the Angels well in New York. Game is postponed.

Today I look at Petco Park in San Diego. One of the best new parks right in the middle of downtown San Diego. Parking prices are expensive.

Matt Morris will look to trump the Pads in the mediocre west, but don't underestimate Woody given his command. If the Pads are to stay alive the pitching will need to come through. Let's play National ball.

STL/SDP UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -112

That's not national ball. Woody is crap on the mound and this wager is dead early. Looks like Lawrence is coming out.
It seems many teams are raising their OPS (Slugging Percentage + On Base Percentage) Under backers are taking hits.

Friday Looks Like Rain

If your thinking about Angels and Yanks or even the Sox Sox game. Tonight's rain adds risk to the speculation. Soxes have the better chance to get their game in.

My thoughts on Sox series. Sox will win.

Seriously now, Red Sox nation is out again hoping for return to glory. They are tough at home and this is it, they'll throw everything they got no hesitation. The whole world knows it and the moneyline has been swinging hard toward Boston.
I will fade Boston at this point. Sweep, 3 games, thanks for trying better luck next year. I'm not a Red Sox hater, I just like the play.
The public has spoken "No way, no how, not at Fenway, impossible"

I'll take CWS PK FIRST 5 INN +158 & ML +161
Isn't this fun.

Hey, I had Boston last year to win it all.

I know, this can't be happening World Champs don't get swept in the first round, that's why the pay was so sweet. Almost knocked down both sides.

MLB Banter Continues

Give me Roger today on the short game. Two old gladiators go at this one and as many will eye the O/U 7, spot lighting the pitching, I think Astros will get 2 or 3 runs by the 6th. HOU PK FIRST HALF +122

Maybe the boys will have some thoughts.

NHL side bet LAK/PHO UNDER 6 +122 for 2 units
This price is moving the wrong way.

Atlanta and Smoltz is tough in post season. I thought Roger was going to hold the 1 run lead for at least the half. I did balance it out with the NHL winner.

Wednesday, October 05, 2005

MLB Post Season Banter

OK I'm going to be a baseball fan root for my home town Angels down by one and no more home field advantage. Hats off to the bombers for knocking around Colon with 2 outs. This is a new game with big John Lackey against tricky Wang, Angels will get to him by the 6th. Lackey all grown up, been there, done that! Our pen is still loaded and closer ready to take the ball.
I'll be there, right by the Yanks bench, jeering them.

A little wager to make it interesting.

Angels baby ! Wang was pretty good, sinker was working, fielding errors did him in. Under would of been good.

I can't believe the world champions are on the brink of elimination. What stood out to me was the poor defense, Iguchi should not of had that opportunity.

Be back later, see what the boys like today.

Keep in mind Post Season game is a different animal and anything can happen in a short series.
One thing that comes to mind is Angels are Yankee killers. Moose on the mound for NY is questionable against Colon. Angels are red hot right now and Yanks may disappoint here after edging the Red Sox for divison win coupled with long travel across the coast.

Since I wrote about my thoughts on Yankees vs Angels game 1 of series I see the line has gone from Angels -119 to -125 I love Oct. baseball.

As fewer teams compete for the championship there are more squares, fleas jumping on these games. Make sure your angle has the edge, study the manager's options. Look at the reduced foul territory, know the ball park, weather changes in October, etc...etc....

Just got back from the Angels game. What a disappointing start for the Halos.
Moose threw some hangers in the early going but, the Angels could not cash it in.

The first day of Oct. Diamond Backs without pressure is rolling 6 in a row.

If you've looked at BetCrimes comment on LAD/SDP I agree on his thoughts.
I'll go with the quick over.

LAD/SDP OVER 4 FIRST 5 INNINGS -119 for 2 units

Bad choice adding the late game. Thinking about it now that was a rookie mistake, the basic rule for O/U is with strong pitching vs strong batting take the Under, with weak pitching vs weak batting take the under. The total number itself should of raised a flag as the books were luring the Overs.

BC, Good luck with the Pads. Signing out with game tied 1-1 at PetCo.

Fri. Sep. 30 Play

It's crunch time. Days are numbered so take the pickings while you can.
Taking a look at out of contention game with MIL/PIT. Davis and Perez takes the mound respectively. Although Perez often doesn't figure into the games he is good for half game and his pitching is improving. Davis is a quality pitcher who should have a much better W-L record. He goes deep and gives very little.

MIL/PIT UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -109
Sorry for my late posting the price has changed to -120

Thu. Sep. 29 Play

Today we look at the final game of the western division rivals Angels at Oakland. Angels clinched the division two nights ago and BetCrimes slammed the books with Angels resting their regulars last night.
Today Angels ace Colon with very impressive record takes the mound but, he will be on pitch count and his last outing was not so impressive.
A's will counter will Zito who has given the Angels hell this year but, he too is shaky. I think the bats will come to life early in this day game at MacAfee, wasn't it Network something last season?, take the early over.

Beckett is being shut down for the season the fish will send Moehler to the mound. Not only is the house of cards built by the Marlins collapsing, Moehler is in bad shape. Marlins slide to continue.

This line has changed along with the pitcher -104.

CWS/DET with the big Cuban on the mound for White Sox. Jose is pitching his best game right now but, Sean Douglass is not as hittable as he seems.
Sean has turned his game around and Tigers are playing out their revenge card. White Sox line up does not seem so formidable.

CWS/DET UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -106 for 2 units

I guess the Books dropped the ball on the WAS/FLA game. That wrong line was up for surprisingly long time. Hope many of you took advantage.

Mon. Sep. 26 Play

Moving on to week 7.

You got to love the American League Central. Keeping watch on the front runners I see White Sox pitchers are back on their game. Only few days ago the South Siders looked grim for post season but, now it looks to be up for grabs. Garland is focused and brings to Comerica 3-0 0.35ERA record against the Tigers. Not to underestimate Jason Johnson, winless against the W.Sox for 05', he'll be looking to revenge his losses sporting 2.68ERA at home.

CWS/DET UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -106 for 3 units

Crede homers top of 5th to send this game Over 4.5 His solo shot single handedly snaped my win streak. Funny thing is I checked my wager just minutes ago and the wager was not graded because the listed pitchers when I made the selection was N. Robertson not J. Johnson for the Tigers.
I think many players backed White Sox today and took the loss.
Better luck tomorrow.

Sun. Sep. 25 Play

Yanks are once again hot at the right place and at the right time.
They stumbled on Wright not being right but, I see Wang catching the second wind with his winning ways. Towers have become the workhorse and I do think he'll have a quality outing but, Bombers hitting righties .323
Am I looking at heavy chalk Yankees? No.
I do think Bombers win but, I'll stick with my half game totals.

TOR/NYY UNDER 5.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +102 for 2 units

Bottom of 5th, Yanks on the corners and A-Rod strikes out looking to make this First 5 Innings a winner. 1-0 +2.04 units

Sat. Sep. 24 Play

Celebrating my birthday today with family and friends.
Bit too much going on to concentrate on the games today.
Well, maybe one early game.

HOU/CUBS UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -111 for 1 unit

Hopefully BetCrimes or Batis will make some advise today.

Thanks guys it was a fun day. 1-0 +1.00 unit

Don't put too much into wagerline rankings it just fun picks and I take whatever I like at that time.

The plays are Pinnacle lines and we don't disclose financial but, doing nicely thank you.

Fri. Sep. 23 Play

Cleveland staying hot in Kansas City. CC gets the nod with second outing in a week. CC was masterful but, Royals should get better at bat facing the same pitcher in such short span of time. Even with Royals getting some runs it will need several multiple run innings as it is Lima time which means Indians will score.

CLE/KCR OVER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -118 for 2 units

We are three cappers in three continents we can pound the man around the clock 1-0 +2.00 units

Thur. Sep. 22 Play

SFG at WAS Under 4 First 5 Innings -110 for 3 units

I played HOU/PITS Under 8.5 already

Looks like bonanza of Unders today.
Let's add a Over.

SEA at TOR OVER 4.5 First 5 Innings -109 for 3 units

Good news 2-0 +6.00 units. Looking better.
BetCrimes, Nice win on ARZ/LAD Over 8.5

Wed. Sep. 21 Play

Excellent deduction by BetCrimes on LAD/ARZ game last night.

Today I like the pitching match up in Bronx, O's at Yanks.
Lopez has something to prove tonight and RJ to cruise the first half.

BAL/NYY UNDER 5 FIRST 5 INNIGS -115 for 2 units

Looks like we all put the hurting on the books today.

Tue. Sep. 20 Play

I'm working on few games but, I'm taking this one early.

LAD PK FIRST 5 INNINGS -104 for 3 units
LAD -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +127 for 3 units

Yes the Dodgers did me in little while back but, I'm going to back Lowe he's on a roll. I think LA has a strong edge here.

BetCrimes and I have different view of the Dodgers at Diamond Backs game but, this is what make open forum great. It brings out the style and charcter behind the play. I do share some of the same concern with Dodgers to disappoint in Bank One Ballpark and hopefully I have the early game edge regardless of the outcome.

Second plays.
STL -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -102 for 2 units
I like Suppan to hold his own today. Lines indicate runs.

CHC/MIL UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -110 for 2 units
Good situational play where Under 8.5 has dropped to 8 on the over night.

Good luck players

1-3 -6.16 units

Mon. Sep. 19 Play

All the comments and support have been very inspirational.
I'm working on a new project here in Chicago and will be continuing long hours but, there are some advantage to being in the Windy city shared by Wrigley Field and
U.S. Cellular Field. I'll be sure to catch one of the game between Indians and White Sox, lower box seats on third base side at $65, not a bad deal.

This is my take today.

DET -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +104 for 3 units

Tigers have been losing but, look closely as they have battled in these games.
Bonderman progressing back to form. Look for early scoring to hold 5 innings.

TOR PK FIRST 5 INNINGS -123 for 2 units
Moyer could not hold 6 run lead in last outing and his stuff has been off.
Downs in good form, look for him to go 6 solid innings.

1-1 today but, loser was for 3 units making it -1 unit.
Bonderman is a enigma to me it's easier to move on to better capping games.
Jays proved to be a good half game play as they blew it in the 9th.

Sat. Sep 17 Play

Things are not going well this week. I'm overloaded at work and I've put in 90+ hours which is really cutting into my capping time.

I'll take two Half game totals today.

COL/ARZ UNDER 5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +100 for 3 units

KCR/CLE UNDER 5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -110 for 2 units

I took these late last night.

Wise words from BetCrimes. I do require time to analyze these games and the level of plays have fallen below acceptable taking 0-2 with loss of -5.20 units.
I will take the day off tomorrow as I am traveling to Chicago. I will take the loss for this week, first time since I've started this blog, as no matter how much experience and skill one can posses nobody is bigger than the game for the object of this game is to maximize opportunities and minimize the losses. Every execution should result from full assessment of risk which is to analyze every detail possible. Everybody is given the same options, know when to pass.

I will be back on Sunday evening with the wrap up.

I'm also a big fan of NHL and NBA. I've tracked the on goings at NBA Summer league and NHL Rookie camp & Training camp. I'm considering blogs on both as there will be many opportunities to rack up some gains.

Wish all players the best of luck and have a winning Sunday.

Thur. Sep. 15 Play

I have a early game total from Batis.

CWS/KCR UNDER 9 -129 for 2 units

Sorry, missed this by 4 min. already started

I guess the first game being late was a good thing. No harm no foul.

Let's take a look at the contenders match up OAK/BOS.
What a must see game as the post season is around the corner.
Mid September and Schilling is back as a starter where he should be.
I expect nothing less than vintage Curt tonight.
On the other side Blanton, this guy will go 6 or 7 innings consistantly and not give up runs. Even better with Red Sox never facing Joe. Now these teams always battle with their bats and rarely go Under but, that's what I'll be backing.
This game to result against the over trend.

UNDER 5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +113 for 3 units

The first game total didn't make it in time but, I will count it since it got posted.
1-1 +0.81

Wed. Sep 14 Play

It's getting cooler every day, autumn is in the air.

I will go with the half game angle on this early game.
PIT/STL UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -109 for 2 units
The Bucs are coming on strong and Perez will be the key. He looked pretty good in his last outing. Jason is probably the best in Cards rotation and though there is a good chance he might lose the edge runs will not come early.

With a help from Batis second game for today.
HOU ML -138 for 3 units
Roger owns the fish and I expect him to fully recover from the last bad outing.
Clemens mother passed away today and this win will be for her.
He will not fail.

I was bit rattled with Perez ejection but, this Under play worked out.

NYM at STL. Mets have that sinking feeling but, on this Sunday Pedro will take the mound and I will back him facing the winningest team in MLB. Cards pitcher Morris has lost his form and I expect the Mets to take full advantage.

Sat. Sep 9 Play

Friday turned low total numbers, in what looked like a pitching duel, into easy overs. Late games turned Under but, premier pitching match ups took an different turn.

Today I will go with OAK/TEX game with public money going to Over 9 and Over 5 first half. Fade the public on the First Half game.
Late game runs have become common occurance with these two teams so I think the better bet is the First Half with Pitchers showing low run numbers.

OAK/TEX UNDER 5 FIRST 5 INNINGS for +104 at 3 units

Adding TOR ML +114 for 2 units
Batis pointed this out. Looks like a good spot for the Blue Jays to have a big game.

BAL ML +104 for 2 units

Damm Loe, I wouldn't of mind him giving up a homer but, a grand slam in the 2nd !? only to blank all other frames up to 5th? Had to vent a little on that one.

Good news, another gain 3-1 +3.42 units

Thursday, September 08, 2005

Fri. Sep. 9 Play

I will be busy again so here are the early bird specials.

NYM/STL UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS
at -107 for 3 units

Seo is still one of the hottest pitcher in NL since the All Star and Jason Marquis is coming to late season form. Jason on a roll is very tough to derail

LAA/CWS UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS
at -116 for 2 units

I would make this a 3 unit play if this play was not such an obvious pick.
I don't believe in gifts and took this over MIN/CLE under 3.5 F5 play.
Washburn can have command issues and Mark Buehrle's had his ups and downs but, these are contending teams in September trending Under. Should be a pitching duel.

Ahh, the obvious winner is the loser. Looking back and reading the loser pick I sound like I didn't like it in the first place.
Progression continues 1-1 +0.68 units.

Thur. Sep. 8 Play

I thought I was going to miss my deadline today.

These are my the plays I will be backing.

TAM/NYY U6 FIRST 5 INNINGS -128 3 units
Hendrickson has been solid of late and Wang coming off DL has been doing well in recovery. This game has that late season feel with Yanks fighting for post season and D-Rays playing strong against the Yanks, runs will not be easy today and this number is just too high. Full game total at 10 at even money is also worth a shot.

TAM ML +199 for 1 unit
TAM -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +220 for 1 unit
Might be a bit of a reach but, I'm playing house money and worth the price with Wang, who has been hit by the D-Rays.
I know the sharps have been playing the Rays every game of this series and I can't argue when the lines are so inflated.

Watch Out! Clutch is dialed in and war chest is growing! 3-0 +7.19 units

Tuesday, September 06, 2005

Wed. Sep. 7 Play

I will be going out of town early tomorrow so here is my play.

ARZ ML -115 for 3 units
Fade Redman, he has not shown any consistency. OK, Webb's sliding too but, he bounces back much better after a bad outing. He should have confidence with 1.98ERA against the Bucs.

NYM/ATL UNDER 4 FIRST 5 INNGS -115 for 2 units
Good pitching match up.

2-0 +5.00

Monday, September 05, 2005

Tue. Sep. 6 Play

I'm taking couple of picks early

HOU/PHL UNDER 4 FIRST 5 INNINGS -108 Ffor 2 units
I'm back on Oswalt to dominate. Did you know he has a new compact delivery? Last time out I tried to fade him and he came out throwing strikes. Houston strength is the starting pitchers, specifically Pettitte, Clemens and Oswalt, these three will have strong showing in September. Now Phils are not going to give up here with Lieber coming on strong. He will keep this close. I think Astros are going to edge this game but, I like the First Half Under better.

TAM -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +349 for 1 unit
Another Half game bet with two pitchers going different directions. Big Unit was outstanding in his last outing and Casey got hit all over the place. This adds extra value to already inflated Yankees money combine that with giving up -0.5 in the 1st half make this play the SuperDog variety. Randy is good, especially in late season but, his last outing was too good and I expect him to be a little softer. Fossum on the other side has the stuff to give hitters hell, I will take a chance for him bring his game against the Big Unit and the Bombers.
Rays are 9-4 against the Bombers 4-2 on the road.

Good luck

Well, I'm going to add one late game.
COL/SDP OVER 7.5 -113 for 2 units.

I guess some readers are saying "Clutch you screwed up, the Devil Rays play was money line all the way"
It was either or selection for me and since I didn't want to give up -1.5 runs the First Half held the better value -0.5 against Johnson rather than Rivera.
I did think about taking TAMP ML too but, on the big dog I'll pick one angle to take the shot. I basically covered the risk of losing this pick with my
HOU/PHL U F5 and late addition of COL/SDP O 7.5 makes today a nice winning day with a nice try on a big dog!
2-1 +3.00 units

Mon. Sep. 5 Play

Relaxing on Labor day. Batis did all the work and many are already in play.
This is what I have remaining.

Good News, gain of 3.585 units

Sun. Sep. 4 Play

DET/CWS (Garland vs Bonderman)
I know both of these pitchers have been losing and giving up hits but, I see some reasoning behind their shaky outing.
Bonderman was hit in the wrist by a come backer 2 outings ago and I think that effected his last outing. He says he's fine and I think he'll adjust tomorrow against the White Sox.
Garland just had a poor outing making bad pitches, he too is physically fine and I expect him to return to form.

Beware of backing White Sox in this spot. Trend line I track likes Tigers to upset.

It will come down to this play for me Sunday to make or break week 3.
DET/CWS U9 -105 for 3 units

End the week with a winning play! 1-0 +3.00 units

Sat. Sep. 3 Play

I've locked in some plays already.

The Indians send Milwood to the mound who went complete game giving up only 2 runs to take the tough luck loss. Milwood has been solid lately.
Santana was outstanding but, he too ended on the losing end of 2-1 game.
CLE/MIN U 3.5 -114 for 3 units

The D-Rays seems to come up short on 4 game losing streak but, looking at these losses they have been money for the First 5 innings and still holding good value.
TAMPA -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +185 for 1.5 units

Made some progress today by slamming the books 2-0 for gain of 5.775 units

Fri. Sep. 2 Play

My man Batis is on METS +1.5 I originally thought UNDER with these two pitchers but, METS to win here might not be a bad choice. I see D-Train having a short to medium outing today, which means out by 6th.

These are in play.

CHC/PIT game. Fading Fogg, he is half the pitcher he was last season.
Expect early run support for Maddux. I don't think either of these pitcher will go the distance.
CUBS PK FIRST 5 INNINGS -110 for 2 units

Playing the Under trend which has been hurting me lately. Keep it small.

Tues. Aug. 30 Play

New day will bring new games. These are my views and plays with influence from my friends.

Phillies to the Big Apple and take on NY Mets. Red hot Seo on the mound for the home team sporting 0.89 ERA, undefeated in Aug and he is pitching deep.
Tejeda fell apart in his last start than threw 2 inning no hits in relief against the Giants Aug. 24th. Although Tejeda will likely improve from his last start I don't think it'll be good enough to beat the Mets.
NY METS ML -128 for 3 units

The O's fly into Toronto for the battle of the birds at Rogers Center.
Bush takes the mound for the home team and he blanked the Yanks for 5 innings last time out. But I like Lopez better today as he went 7 innings 0 score against the Angels. Lopez is solid on his outing after 1 run or less.
BAL ML +114 for 2 units

My Total play for today will be my favorite short game.
Solid pitching match up with not so hot bats equal UNDER.
NATS/ATL UNDER 3.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -102 for 3 units

Reds are riding a hot streak and normally I would rather pass than go against a hot streaking team but, this is a situational play with Astros owning the Minute Maid Park advantage, Astros to take this spot is historically huge.
HOU ML -107 for 3 units

Pulling the trigger on this good size dog. This one will be on the short game.
NY Yanks have Chacon, Yanks best buy of the year, going against Harris.
This play is more about fading Chacon in the early going. Yanks could very well come back to take the game but, great value for the First 5 game.
SEA PK FIRST 5 INNINGS +173 for 1 unit

Baltimore let me down and first 5 under was lost with 2 run 5th.
But on the money with the other three including the dog!

No excuses but, I feel like I was off a bit on week 2 and did not pull the trigger on several dogs that came in.
I will take the small gain on not so good week.
Week 2 result, Good news gain of 2.95 units

Sun. Aug. 28 Play

I will back the Best pitcher in second half. This is his time to blow away the opponents. Twins with Santana vs Rangers with Young.

Sat. Aug. 27 Play

Late again.

NYM at SFG will be the game to play today. Both pitchers in excellent form.
I'd see this game going UNDER.

NYM/SFG UNDER 4 FIRST 5 INNINGS +101 to win 2.02 units
NYM/SFG UNDER 8 -111 to win 2 units

Slow start this week but, finally into the black.
Good news 2-0 with +4.02 units for the day.

Fri. Aug. 26 Play

Batis and I have been exchanging plays for awhile.
This is today's result of combined plays.

WAS ML +114 to win 1.14 units

OAK ML -114 to win 2.00 units

CLE/TOR U 9.5 -105 to win 3.00 units

4 runs top of 9th to rob the UNDER, the sweep and big play of the day.

2-1 -0.01 units

Thu. Aug. 25 Play

Sorry I'm late.

I will go with some pitching match ups today.

TOR/NYY U5 F5 -104 to win 1 unit

CWS/MIN U 4 F5 -112 to win 1 unit

NYM/AZD U4.5 F5 -116 to win 1 unit

I'll be back for my views on the choices

Well, two of the games above are after thoughts now but, to sum it up all games listed have strong pitching trend to support the Under.

Chacin for Toronto gave up 4 big runs early but,
he settled and blanked the next 4 frames.
I don't think it was a melt down but, this F5 U was a loser.

CWS/MIN game was right on prediction.

One more game to go.

Here is a addition received from Batis. I will add to todays card.

CLE/TAM U 9 at -123 to win 1 unit
COL/LAD O 7.5 at +117 to win 1.17 units

3 wins and 2 losses, slight gain today 0.90 units

Wednesday, August 24, 2005

Wed. Aug. 24 Play

Oakland Athletics at Detroit Tigers will feature two very Under pitchers,
Kirk Saarloos vs Jeremy Bonderman, A's pitcher Kirk has O/U record of 3-15.
Jeremy is Tigers top man and will go deep, picked up a win in his last outing after going through tough losses, he has trended Under in Aug.
These two teams have recorded 8-4 Under.

OAK/DET UNDER 8.5 at-110 to win 3 units

Bad day for Jeremy, bad day for me. -3.3 units.

Tuesday, August 23, 2005

Tue. Aug 23 Play

I am going to pass on today's games.
I was close to taking Toronto Blue Jays over Yankess and game to go Under 10.5 or 11 but, I wil hold off today.

Good luck to all.

Looks like my capping senses was on today as Toronto had this game all the way to the bottom of the 9th. Hideki "Godzilla" Matsui was the difference. Game did end Under

Mon. Aug. 22 - Plays

Atlanta Braves at Wrigley Field, Cubs come home from 3-3 road trip and sends
Carlos Zambrano to the mound. He has been sparkling of late with last game 1 run given up in 8 1/3 innings striking out 10 Astros. This guy goes deep consistantly with record of 1.07 ERA in Aug.
Hudson also having excellent Aug. going deep in his outing.

As wonderful as these two pitchers are Total 6.5 with rising OPS, Atlanta has gone Over 8-2-1 and Cubs have gone OVER 6-2

ATL/CUBS OVER 6.5 -130 to win 2 units

St. Louis Cardinals at Pittsburgh Pirates. This look like a one sided pitching match up with Mark Mulder owning the Bucs and Josh Fogg owned by the Cards.
I will play the spread on this game.

STL RL -1.5 at -107 to win 3 units

Houston Astros at San Diego Padres.
Oswalt has hit a rough spot giving up 4 runs in his last two outings. I feel a bounce back spot and Astro bats getting to Woody.

HOU ML at -135 to win 2 units
*************************************************************************************

Braves and Cubs in game:
These two pitchers going at it in Chicago are totally sick, nothing but, goose eggs and mowing down batters. Hudson's splitter is just dropping off at the plate.
This game is looking Under at this rate both of these guys could complete the game.
Chipper made the difference for the Braves and made the Total going into the 9th interesting. Just missed but, paid heavy juice for Total play.
Game Ends: 4-2 Braves Loser

Cards and Bucs in game:
I can't believe this, how many hits does it take to bring home the Cards 11 hits 3 runs? How many double plays do they hit into? Bucs still on the heels with 3 hits and 1 run.
That's how it ends.
Game End: 3-1 Cards Winner

Astros and Padres in game
Oswalt pitching out of jams. Woody keeping the Pads in game but, Astros have hit him 9 times and scored 3. Still close.
After Woody exits Rudy Seanez comes in, looking not settled on the mound, gets behind the count on Berkman. Berkman getting the green light with 3-1 count, Taveras on first, hits a 2 run shot "Good bye Rawlings". One more Berkman double to send Biggio home in the 9th.
Game End: 6-2 Astros Winner
*************************************************************************************
ATL/CHI U 6.5 at -130 2 units play Lose -260
STL RL -1.5 at -107 3 units play Win +300

Good News Winning Day!

Week Two

Monday will start a new week.
I'd like to make some adjustments this week to make my plays easier to follow.
I'm thinking of cutting out the thought process, especially with early leans not benefiting as plays and I'm not keeping track of early lean results.
I wanted to log it all but, it's just too much stuff to write.

I like to thank Batis and BetCrimes for their comments.
Both are winners and respected cappers active at covers.com forum.

Good news, Gains for this week. 9.885 units

Sun. Play

Saturday selections did not hold up. I will wrap it all up later today.

First game is Baltimore Orioles at Cleveland Indians.
Indians are surging again taking out the O's with momentum sweeping the red hot A's.
These two teams trend Over in their match up with Total usually set between 9 to 9.5 but, here the Total is 8.5 and 4.5 First Half. The line opened with Over bias and price movement agrees to the Over.
I think the pitching will prevail the Under with much improved pitchers on the mound.
Weather condition also points to pitching favor as well as BHP Barksdale is 7-2 Under for his last 9.

UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +103 3 units to win +309

Second game is San Francisco Giants at St. Louis Cardinals.
Here is another good pitching match up with OVER 8.5 getting the money.
Jason has been roughed up but, has pitched well since the All Star break I think he'll bounce back here. Suppan has been excellent with 2.61 ERA in his last 3.
These two clubs trend Under in match up which seems to surprise many.

UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +105 2 units to win +210

Third game is Chicago Cubs at Colorado Rockies.
Maddux going against Rockies best Francis. Francis had a melt down against the Bucs 2 starts ago than improved against the Brewers going 5 innings, took the loss but, looked much better and poised to go 6 innings today. When Total is 11.5 to 12 Francis has gone UNDER 4-1
Maddux has been economical on the road with most given up in the last 10 was 8 hits 5 runs in Atlanta back on July 5th. The other 4 road starts in the last 10 the runs have been 1, 2, 3 and 0.

UNDER 6 FIRST 5 INNINGS -101 to win 2 units

Sat. Play III

I was winning the Blue Jays First Half and Tigers tied them at the bottom of the 5th, what sour luck. Push.

SEA/MIN U4 First Half Winner !!!

Let's take KC/OAK OVER 7.5 at -112 to win 1 unit

Sat. Play II

Santana was masterful and Arroyo kept the Sox in the game.
I had a couple of chances but, todays pitching was too good and I was completely off.

Toronto Blue Jays First Half PK -107 to win 2 units *This one started already

SEA/MIN First Half UNDER 4 at -111 to win 2 units
Good pitching match up.

Sat. Play

Here we go.

I'm taking a selection on Boston/Angels game OVER 9.5
Boston making good contact and line up is hitting. Could not cash in the runs last night but, that was just the signs of things to come today.
Red Sox loves power pitchers, especially young ones that don't know better.
Arroyo should be just as fun for Angels line up, I like to see Arroyo pay if he walks Vladdy. Also note First 5 Innings Total is 5.5, hows that for faith in the Starting Pitchers!

OVER 9.5 -123 to win 3 units

Friday, August 19, 2005

Fri. Results

Irrational exuberance did me in today.
I crossed up the early plays, I should of gone NYY/CWS UNDER 9 and MIN ML.
Took the suckers bet, ended up being the sucker. I'm sure KC will win someday but, it'll be without me backing them.

Boston almost sank my ship but, they pull it out. How many hits they need to get some runs? Red Sox should have 10 runs.

1 - 3 win to loss
-1.64 unit loss today

Plenty of weekend games to cap. I'll get working and be back later.

Fri. Play III

Boston took a 4-13 beating last night. That's the World Champs !
I think they will redeem themselves tonight with Clement.

BOSTON RED SOX ML +111 Selection 2 units to win 222

There is also a suckers bet on the board.
That's the Royals.

KC ROYALS ML +335 Selection 0.5 unit to win 167.5

Friday Play II

Has Garland peaked? Thus the CWS ML +118 Yanks come to the South side of Chicago and Mussina looked good against Texas in his last outing.
I think Garland will be fine and White Sox will bring their best game against the not so polished Yankees.

Chicago White Sox ML +118 Selection 1 unit to win +118

What is a Unit?

This is your play increment. Typical casino exchange for $100 would be 20 $5 chips, your unit play is $5.
In the case with Sportsbook I like to use 1% to 5% of bankroll so my units are not consistant.
For recording purpose this is much easier and anyone following can just use flat increment like $100 per unit.

Fri. Play

Seattle Mariners send Meche against Silva and the Twins.
Meche has been struggling of late giving this match up a Total of 9.
I see Meche's adjustment catching up.
I think the UNDER is a good play and better play is with the First 5 Innings UNDER 5

SEA/MIN FIRST 5 INNINGS UNDER 5 -118 to win 2 units

Thursday, August 18, 2005

Thur. Results

Baseball has been very very good today. I even played Angels just like the Dodgers, FIRST 5 INNINGS PK - ML - RL, before going to the game but, didn't have time to post so I'm not recording it.

4 - 0 PERFECTO DAY (7 - 0 *with unrecorded plays)

Record to Date: +10.195 units

I'll clean it up at the end of week #1

Don't be shy leave me some comments, questions, whatever.
I've invited some capping forum posters and my partner will return from vacation soon. I'm hoping to have a Blog ring of strong cappers. I prefer specialists rather than All Sports capper but, I'd like to hear from everyone.

Any NFL, NBA, College Football, Basketball, Soccer, Golf, Nascar, Formula, Tennis, Boxing (did I miss anything?) capping experts out there?

Thur. Play

Looking at Los Angeles Dodgers at Turner Field. The price on ML has bounced around.
Braves are very good at home and tonight they go for the series win.
But Jeff Weaver is Atlanta nemesis and Braves backers should beware.
John Thomson has not been all that sharp and seems like all the hits turns to runs.
The juice on Atlanta has dropped from -163 to -154.
I'm keeping my eyes on this line for LA DODGERS ML at +150 or better.

**********************************************************************************

I'm on Dodgers ML +151 Selection for 1 unit to win 1.54 unit
and Dodgers PK FIRST 5 INNINGS +145 for 1 unit to win 1.45 unit
Reaching a bit with Dodgers ARL -1.5 +225 0.5 unit to win 112.5 unit

SFG/CIN FIRST 5 INNINGS

Good news the UNDER 6 Wins.

I'm going to the Red Sox/Angles game. Be back later.

Thursday Early Play

SFG at CIN, The Great American Ballpark. This place is claiming high scoring games so this game brings the TOTAL of 10.5
OK this series have cashed OVER 2-1 so far with starters getting banged up in the two OVER's. Today the starters are Tomko and Ortiz, either one or both could get lit up. All this sounds good on the surface but, not much happening with the line after opening with UNDER bias.
Pinnacle's moved just a tad towards OVER. What's more interesting is FIRST 5 INNINGS Total is 6, early innings scoring is bit of a overkill here.
Both of these pitchers are much improved and throwing quality starts. They are also showing good ground outs to fly outs ratio keeping the infield busy.

I'll go with FIRST 5 INNINGS UNDER 6 at -120 Selection to win 1 unit

Wednesday, August 17, 2005

Wed. Play Results

Jays ! MONEY +3.08 !!! Sorry about my math error on the previous post,
+1.54 x 2 = 3.08

Total to Date: +5.08 units

Wed. Night Play II

Got the Jays ML at +154 2 units to make 3.04

Wed. Night Play

MIN/CWS U 3.5 FIRST 5 loss
MIN/CSW U7.5 is looking shaky.
Santana's doing what I expected but, Mark is off my expectation.

Let's go with the Jays over Angels, I'm watching the line.
I thought Angels would dominate this series but, they're having tough time with the Jays. I always liked Towers and he seems to pitching well lately.
It's not that Angels are that bad but, having bad luck. A's failed to win and I don't think Angels will be able to take advantage. This is a feel play.

I'll take it over +150

************************************************************************************

Looks like I salvaged a split on the two UNDER plays. Still lost the juice.

Thanks for all the comments! I'll be sure to check out all your blogs!

Now let's go Jays!

Wed. Play

I'm short on time with too much to do. I'm not going to rush the selections so I'll stand with my UNDER plays.

Good luck to All.

MLB Wednesday

I have one game I decided before the opening line, Minnesota Twins with Johan Santana playing at South side of Chicago with Mark Buehrie UNDER UNDER UNDER.
I don't like low numbers but I will make a exception here. Pinnacle is hanging on to Total 7.5 while most others are at 7, the price is -128 but most likely will go to 7 in the morning. I will take the overnight lines for ...
FIRST 5 INNINGS UNDER 3.5 at -111 to win 2 units
UNDER 7.5 at -128 to win 2 units
Santana in August is nasty as hell and Buehrie at home is tough as nails.
Couple that with poor OPS and we have ourselves a very low scoring game.

Now some games that stand out to me.
Texas at Cleveland Over 9.5 [-108]
Nats ML +133
SFG at CIN Under 10 [-117]
ARZ ML +147 or Under 8 [+111]
SDP at FLA Under 8 [-124]
BOS ML -123

Tuesday Plays

When I first looked at today's line last night I had few UNDERS I liked. Dodgers at Braves U 8, Cubs at Astros U8, Twins at White Sox U 8.5, I still like them but, after working on each play my final does not come from the field of leans.

The game today is Yanks with Randy Johnson at Devil Rays with Doug Waechter. Tampa hosting the game so we have controlled dome condition at Tropicana Field. The TOTAL set at 9.5 and the OVER has steadily climbed to -121, but take look at the First Half Total at 5.5 with UNDER at -111 Can the line make the pen any more obvious? Big Unit coming in late season form and Waechter does not give up many runs with ability to consistantly give around 6 innings. I am tempted to take the dog total of UNDER 9.5 at +111 but will stick with the strong play.

FIRST 5 INNINGS UNDER 5.5 at -111 [to win 3 units]

Monday, August 15, 2005

Tuesday Plays

Lines are out. On the quick study Giants with J. Schmidt at Reds with E. Milton showing luring UNDER 9.5 at -110
This line tells me Schmidt will neutralize Reds line up but G-Men bats are not that threatning.
Another is Dodgers with Lowe at Braves with Smoltz UNDER 8 at -111 I kind of like the Dodgers as underdogs on the road. Dodgers are very unpredictable, look at last night against Pedro and the Mets, look at Philly sweep on last road. I may play this on "feel" but will layoff as official play.
The strong play is the UNDER 8 as both of these pitchers are players I would back in mid to late August on forward. I like these two Totals but it's still early so this isn't even a lean yet.

Monday Plays

MIL at COL UNDER 6 FIRST 5 INNINGS [-115] to win 3 units
MIL -1 [-139] to win 2 units

Brewers melt down MIL -1 is a loser. Let's call it +0.22 units for today.

Early Lean

I have a early lean with BREWERS at ROCKIES UNDER 6 FIRST 5 INNINGS with pitchers
B. Sheets and A. Cook The price on this TOTALS is now -116 at Pinnacle and I definately think the chance is higher for the UNDER to cash in the First 5
The game TOTAL stands at 10.5 and O/U both at -105.
I agree with what the line is indicating in that starting pitchers will contain the bats to some degree, it is Coors Field, but into the pen is anybody's guess.

STRONG LEAN FIRST 5 UNDER 6 [-116]
