MLB No Sweep Thursday

To all the readers in cyberspace,
Fade me when I'm cold and tail me when I'm hot.
Now you know the Tigers pulled out the "W" last night, but my indicator was off as they were trailing at the bottom of the 5th.
The developing pattern over the last 2 days of MLB plays have lost full games which would of won in 5 innings and lost half game which would of won in full game.

AL East, 2005 trend on Yanks following BoSox series was easy money and today NYY is trying to erase those memories with a win in Tropicana Field.
I have a feeling the dome will light up Orange in tradition with Devil Rays win.

If it's worked try try again, is the thought behind J. Weaver fade in Detroit vs lefty Robertson. Pitchers heading in opposite direction and Halo batters are not cashing in the runs. Angels need a win badly and plays Tigers well, but they will be trailing at the bottom of 5th.

MLB Monday

Back to Monday.
The weekend is over and my thoughts are on Houston at Milwaukee.
Rodriguez gets the ball for Astros going against home team Ohka.
Ohka is pretty good, but can't seem to string wins and follows good outing with bad. Astros just seem to have the Brew Crews number and Rodriguez is winning games. Let takem' for the first half.

Working Friday MLB

Working the numbers at MLB take a look at Diamondbacks at Giants.
First Giants home factor AT&T Park which has been very productive.
(Run Scored +Runs Allowed at Home)/(Home Games)/
(Runs Scored + Runs Allowed on Road)/(Road Games)
SFG ranks 4th.
Second the pitching. ARZ, Miguel Batista, 2-0, 5.16 ERA, 1.68 WHIP.
His last outing against the Dodgers Nomar Garciapara's 1st inning line drive hit him in the shin. He ended leaving the game 5 innings later with stiffining shin. He faced the Giants 4/17 in Arizona and was drilled early lasting only 4 innings with 11 hits 7 runs 6 earned.
There are 2 Giants (Bonds and Wynn) with high OPS against Miguel.
Relief pitchers.
Used 4/26 (*4/27 no game) Luis Vizcaino 1.64 ERA, Brandon Lyon 0.93 ERA, Jose Valverde 3.24 ERA (S)Bull pen was perfect in low scoring road win against San Diego.
Used 4/25 Brandon Medders 10.80 ERA,Greg Aquino 4.32 ERA
Used 4/24 Jose Valverde (S. W)
Used 4/23 Grimsley 5.87 ERA, Cruz 3.00 ERA, Lyon 1.04 ERA

SFG, Jason Schmidt, 0-2, 5.33 ERA, 1.44 WHIP
His last outing against the Rockies in Denver 7 innings, 5 runs all earned
hit him early and often in a slug fest Rockies win in 9th inning rally.
4/15 against the Dodgers in LA loss, 6 innings, 6 hits, 2 runs earned with notable 7 walks throwing 114 pitches.
There are 2 Diamondbacks (Shawn Green and Chad Tracy) with high OPS against Jason.
Relief pitchers.
Used 4/26 (*4/27 no game) Fassero 6.97 ERA, Kline 5.14 ERA, Worrell 7.84 ERA, Benitez 0.00 ERA, Munter 5.59 ERA.
Used 4/25 Accardo 5.40 ERA
Used 4/24 Worrell 7.45 ERA, Munter 4.15 ERA.
Used 4/23 Correia 4.15 ERA, Wilson 0.00 ERA, Fassero 7.20 ERA

Momentum goes to Diamondbacks.
Giants are lacking stability at this point and to shoulder this game on Jason is too much. Arizona have shown to win on the road. If Batista can keep the game in striking range the late inning should prove to be in Diamondback's favor.
Take the Road Dog. ARZ +133 for 1 unit(L)

------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not going to write all the details for CWS at LAA.
In a nut shell Garcia will out pitch Weaver, but when the bull pen comes in it'll be a different game. Angels pen is the strength.

CWS First 5 innings -112 for 1 unit(W)
Made this game sound like it was going to be pitchers dual, anything but.
Should of taken the Over too. Never did trust Weaver although he has some of the best pitches in baseball, killer side arm he'll drop on you anytime, but his wheels tend to come off during games. Freddy G. is just getting up in age he's not going to give you the high heater in the mid 90's any more, but he has experience to get the batters out.

I guess all the details couldn't of helped the Diamondbacks.
Getting "Even" again.

MLB Wednesday

Greetings Cappers,
Welcome to Arlington, Texas, Ameriquest Field. Rangers are above .500 rolling 7-3 last 10. Interestingly this stadium ranks 18th in park factor for the Rangers. This game will feature Oakland flame thrower Rich Harden vs Texas 2nd year big man 6'7" 240lbs Kameron Loe, he is coming off chest cold and though he pitched well against the A's in their last meeting he has yet to record a win. Series tied here 1-1 and both games was 1 run difference.
I will back 3-0 Harden and the visiting A's for the first half. Loe is still learning at this level and he will get schooled by one of the best in American League.

OAK First 5 innings -123 for 1 unit(L)

Harden goes out of the game at bottom of 4th with 1 run lead, but leaves bases loaded for Kevin Mench on hot streak. Kiko was no match and promptly gives up the grand slam. This is looking like a loser with time running out.
Too bad I didn't take the complete game as Oakland took the lead in the latter innings.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's go to Anaheim where the recharged Tigers visit the Angels in bit of a slump. Big John Lacky who gave up too many walks against Oakland in his last outing will focus on taking down the Tiger batters. Maroth on the other side is sparkling. It's a day game and the air is warm in Southern California today, but this could still go down with very little runs. I'll count on the starting pitchers.

DET/LAA First 5 innings Under 4 +111 for 1 unit(Push)
Detroit error cost me the win.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Will persistence pay off?
Let's go to the North West where the White Sox are ready to take on the Mariners at Safeco. On the mound for the Champs Mark Buehrle and for the Mariners Jarrod Washburn. Mark has been hit at Safeco and Ichiro gives him trouble, but Wash has his own set of troubles with the White Sox line up.
In comparison Sox batter have the advantage over Mariners.
On the strength of the starters Buehrle is notch above Washburn and White Sox should take the early lead.

MLB Friday

Friday already? This week went by in nothing flat. It must of been tax deadline and standard American tax paying rule, if you must pay wait till last minute.

I'm picking my spots right now and things are looking up.
Boston with Wakefield drops a rare one against the D-Rays and Kaz.
Today the Red Sox will be in Toronto with their big Texan Beckett and Jays will counter with ex-Florida team mate Burnett. Given these two pitchers I like Beckett's stuff better. Boston gets pretty good price here with Jays taking the first series at Boston and good match up history, but I wouldn't go against Red Sox with Schilling, Wakefield and Beckett on the mound. Both are fire ballers, but AJ gets hurt, he was hurt in the Spring and sidelined, so he's behind regular season form. Though American League batters have not seen much of ex-Natinal League pitchers Burnett and Beckett, Beckett pitched against Toronto in Boston home opener, Red Sox has the better line up to contact hard throwing righty. Beckett has set the tone and making progress for early season where as AJ needs few more outings. Red Sox playing their best game on the road (5-1) with top of the line up hitting well.
Under looks tempting here, but my take for this match will be the first 5 innings.

Angels with Colon at Orioles with Bedard.
I was not a fan of Colon last year thought he would wear down, but he went on to win 21, got the Cy Young and when the pitches are down it's still nasty. So what's he doing wrong? Yanks pounded him with the ball up in the zone. He says he was gripping the ball too hard causing the fastball to get up. Scioscia thinks he was over throwing and it was the Yankees playing to avoid the sweep.
It's a bounce back spot for Bartolo.
Bedard starting out nicely and two wins are helped by schedule against D-Rays who the O's dominate. Angels will be different. O's took the first game and on most nights Sheilds would of put that inning away to send it to the 10th.

I missed publishing Dodgers and Marlins for the first 5 innings and it has been tough posting winners lately.

Baltimore lost last night against the Devil Rays at home, but the O's have dominated the Rays and Bruce Chen puts up wins at Tropicana.
Doug Weachter is showing classic signs of brilliant spring to eroding April.

Cold Plays MLB

Baseball in the spring is off to a shaky start. Can Clutch recover form and play his way out of the slump? The cold plays from NBA is causing hangovers.
Unit denomination is 1% of the bankroll and it has been down sized.
The drama unfolds...

Astros at Giants. Backe will stay on his normal rotation for Houston and Morris will get the ball for the Giants. Both pitchers have started well.
The hitter are seeing the ball well right now, but still like good pitching over good hitting.

HOU/SFG 1st 5 innings UNDER 4.5 -103 for 1 unit(Rained Out)

Texas giving 2nd chance to Koronka. So he threw stikes and didn't walk a man against the Tigers still a loss and he is a call up going against very good line up with the Angels. I'd give up a full run if the books offered it for the first 5 innings.

Tuesday MLB Totals

I will be playing the early game again with Mets at Nationals. You know there is expectation for a fight to erupt with Pedro hitting some of the Nats and today's Mets pitcher Bannister hit couple of Nats too. But I do like the early meeting playing out to high score of 9 or better.

NYM/WAS OVER 8.5 -110 for 2 units(L)
Over was knocking at the door. How many scoring chances went unanswered? Damn Zimmerman, bases loaded bottom of 9th strikes out on three pitches from shaky Wagner, WTF was that.

Padres at Marlins total set at 8.5 and money is going towards Over.
Bit of a gut play here, but I think Woody pitches a gem and get no run support.

PNC Park Opening Game

This is a early game with Dodgers sending O. Perez and Z. Duke will take the Pirates home mound for the day game.
Dodgers played a double header last night at Philly splitting the games.
They rushed out to catch their flight and they will be back on the field early.
Perez was rocked in his last outing, though he is much better than what he showed, it may have lingering effects. Duke also looked shaky in his last start, but pitched his way out and he should be psyched with Pirate coming off a losing streak breaking win combined with his first home opener.
Another Pirates advantage is Jim Tracy the ex-Dodger manager calling the shot.

Backing the Tribe today. CC will get the ball for Indians against Ramon Ortiz for home team Nationals.
Please check back for updates on this game.
Taking the over night line.

Here we go with Tuesday XMLB. Feel good play with the Indians traveling to Viera to meet the struggling Nationals on their home field.
Tribes will send LHP CC Sabathia with pitchers Guillermo Mota, Steve Karsay and Rafael Betancourt scheduled. This is the 2nd to last game in spring and Indians having won 6 of their last 7 games look to finish strong in the Grapefurit League.
Nats will go with Ramon Ortiz. He has been pitching well, but knowing Ramon I don't want to get too high on the right hander. Speculating about 6 innings of work and maybe Felix will throw or Joey or Gary Majewaski or Travis Hughes...not much of insight, but the fact is Nationals are work in progress, still adjusting where as the Indians are ready to start.

Cactus League White Sox at Rangers

Texas taking two game slide since reaching .500 on Sunday shut out of the Cubs, now record stands at 8-10-1 in Cactus League. Wednesday game (5-10 MIL) for Texas was a search for 5th starter gone bad and Tuesday game (0-9 LAA) was combination of good Angels pitching and cold Rangers batting.
Texas will send Kevin Milwood. His last game against Diamondbacks, 4 runs allowed in 4 2/3 innings was not that bad as he retired first 7 batters faced, then he walked 2 which turned into a run. Struck out the sides in 4th and gave up two run homer in the 5th.
Chicago South Siders will take the long bus ride to Surprise, they are coming into this contest 5-16 in Cactus League with 2 wins out of last 10 games.
Hideo Nomo will get the ball for this game. Nomo worked 2 innings against KC giving up 3 hits 2 runs earned with 2 strike outs and no walks. I'm thinking the White Sox pitching staff to be thin and Nomo may go longer this outing.
Texas bat has been too quiet and this maybe a good spot to make some noise.

Today the starters are Kelvin Escobar making his first Cactus League appearance since returning from WBC going 3-2 3.02 ERA. Other Angels slated for today areKevin Gregg, Jason Bulger, Scott Dunn and Chris Bootcheck.
Giants will start Matt Cain the top prospect making his forth appearance with extendedpitching in each outing. Other Giants on schedule are Jack Taschner, Jeff Fasero and Steve Kline. Giants are favored tonight as this game is the first in Cactus League where the 2006 projected starting 8 are all available for play. But I don't know if that's good enough to take out the visiting Angels.

The Amazing Padres

These guys are pulling off clutch plays. For two of the last three games, the Padres offense has lagged behind while the opposing team seems to have the game in hand. Then, with an inning or two left, the Padres bats get hot and they pull out the win.
Tuesday against the Athletics, the Friars trailed, 5-1, going into the eighth inning, but thanks to a pair of home runs by Ben Johnson and Eric Valent, San Diego scored five in the inning to get the win. Friday's game had a similar look to it, with the Padres trailing early and for most of the game against the Mariners. This time, Justin Leone was the late hero with a grand slam in the ninth to give the Padres a 9-7 win over Seattle, which at the close of the sixth inning had a 6-2 lead. Geoff Blum's two-out, three-run homer brought the Padres within one run of the Mariners at 6-5 in the top of the seventh.
We will not look to trail Saturday as Right-hander Dewon Brazelton (0-0, 2.25 ERA) will get his fourth start of the spring. His opponent will be left-hander Zach Jackson (2-0, 5.63 ERA) of the Brewers, last meeting with the Pads on 3/13 he was rocked for three runs and two homers, but starter David Bush for the Brew crew was sharp for 4 innings, where as San Diego on this day looked at too many pitchers which killed their chances after the 6th innings.

Snakes vs Rox at Hi Corbelt

Take the short trip across town to Hi Corbelt field.
Make a lunch stop at El Charro Cafe, family owned in Tucson since 1922.
Some home made Posole Stew will hit the spot.

Now let's get the game on. Russ Ortiz for D-Backs will face Zack Day.
D-Backs take a rare loss at Electric Park (home), but bats are still hot.
Back on Zona to take care of business against the Rox.

Florida Grapefruit League to Arizona Cactus League

Got ya covered.

Florida:
I'm taking the Dodgers at Vero facing the Fish.
My thought is that Marlins are tinkering more than Los Angeles and I like Dodgers pitching options today.

Arizona:
I'm taking the home team in Tucson, Diamond Backs, taking on the Royals.
I'm not considering the pitching, it's nothing to count on, but on the hot
D-Backs bats.

World Baseball Classic Korea vs USA

Everyone wants to topple team USA and the opponents will be gunning for the win. Here we have the Koreans backing with +3.5 run line.

I will go the other way
USA -3.5 +126 for 1 unit(L)

Vernon Wells strike out swinging on out of zone pitch.
That was bases loaded top of the 4th. We are down 3-1.

Dan Wheeler replaces shaky D-Train, takes care of the first two batters, gives up a ground rule double than a intentional walk and here comes pinch hitter Hee Seop Choi.....three run home run, are you kidding me 6-1 Korea bottom of 4th.

Yeah it was a 1 unit homer play, but this game got me upset and I did not watch after the Choi home run.
I've come to realize, I knew this and I didn't grasp it, how global MLB teams really are and Americans are not in the drivers seat.
Hat's off to the Korean team.
And to Team USA, you gotta bring better game than that ! Come hard or stay in bed.

Cactus League Play Ball in Scottsdale

Giants rested just about all their regulars except for Ray Durham and they will have everyone back in the beautiful Scottsdale stadium, home of the giants.
Thin line up for Texas will make the trip making this a set up game.
Don't want to get too excited, but I can just sense the regular season coming.

The New York Mets will host the Washington Nationals in Port St Lucie.
The starters will feature Pedro Astacio vs Tom Glavine. Nice card, edge to the home team. Mets are bit pricy tonight because following Pedro are two non-roster invitees Kyle Denny and Bill Bray. If Pedro holds his own, his releif will give up the runs.

NYM -133 for 1 unit(W)

Minny offers value today. The line up is expected thin. Core members attended Kirby's memorial and the charter from Minny returned approximately 2:30 am back to Arizona, but this too is a nighter and you never know who want to get some time in and Twins young talents are dangerous.
Kyle Lohse will face Dave Williams for home team Reds.

Grape Fruit League

Today was a major set up game which I will give some inside tips playing the Spring Exhibition game. These games are passed by many except for the hard seasoned player or specialists and that include insiders, I don't mean the players specifically, but the crew.....The other employees of the organized baseball industry and I will assure you they are not the high paid crowd.
Yanks at Reds, this game with Moose scheduled might hit most squares as a Yankees edge. Why not?, don't need to look further Yanks should crush the reds right? Well, No.
You see Grape Furit & Cactus League is basically minor leagues with majors playing them. They are played in minor league fields and trips are made on buses from town to town and many regulars will not participate in many of them because the team wants to look at their options in action.
Away trips by the Yankees are a Big Red Flag.
George's million dollar babies are not going to be riding around long bus trips
and today's road trip none of the regulars made it.
Yanks tied Reds at top of 9th, that was a huge upset in the making, but error causing RBI in bottom of 9th stopped any chance of a upset.
It's not rocket science, but hard to get info that requires a direct connection.
keep in mind there are more than one squad and many are receiving assignments to their minor league destinations.
Starters don't mean much either they only go 4 innings with lots of hit given up after that. Just remember Majors beats Minors.

Cactus League in Phoenix

Taking in the sun and fun in Phoenix. Clearing my mind from the Association and watching some great American past time.
It's almost that time of the year so keep your eyes and ears open to make the moves.

Southpaw Shawn Estes makes his first start on Monday at Surprise against the Royals, followed by lefties Alan Embree and Erick Burke and right-handers Scott Cassidy, Steve Andrade and Jon Adkins. Estes pitched two scoreless innings in a charity game against the Mariners.
Mark Redman was scheduled to start on Monday against the Padres, but instead he will be in Kansas City having his sore left knee checked. The Royals sent Redman back to Kansas City to have team physician Dr. Steve Joyce examine the knee. In Redman's absence, left-hander Jeremy Affeldt will start on Monday.
Emil Brown is out with stiffness in his lower back and is not scheduled to play on Monday. Right-hander Zack Greinke left camp eight days ago to return to his Orlando, Fla., home for undisclosed personal reasons with the club's permission.
It is all quiet there," general manager Allard Baird said on Sunday. "There's nothing new, right now."
Affeldt will make his second spring appearance, starting against the Padres. The Royals will also throw Kyle Snyder and Jimmy Gobble.

Both teams coming in 2-1-1

But Pads display of power against Mariner was convincing.
I'll take the play with San Diego Padres as the visiting road dog.

World Baseball Classic

Group A Pool, Korea vs top conder Japan was a classic underdog come from behind win. They were having as much trouble scoring runs against Team Japan's pitchers as two other teams in the World Baseball Classic had scoring against their own Major League-dominated staff.
And then, like a bolt of lightning delivered from Seoul, two swings in the eighth inning produced two runs and a stunning turn of events that resulted in a 3-2 victory over Japan and top-seed status heading into the second round of the inaugural Classic.
The largest crowd of the series -- 40,553 -- included Crown Prince Naruhito and his wife.
First baseman Seung Yeop Lee, who will be playing his home games inside the Tokyo Dome this season, spoiled the night for his future fans when he sent a 3-and-1 pitch from left-handed reliever Hirotoshi Ishii into the right-field seats, turning a one-run deficit into a one-run lead -- and a noisy crowd into almost complete silence.
Familiarity served Seung Yeop well in the decisive at-bat of the game.
"In that situation (3-and-1 count), Japanese pitchers will throw a breaking ball," he said. "I was lucky because I could use my experience."
Ishii threw a slider that stayed up in the strike zone and rested right in the middle of Seung Yeop's wheelhouse and just as he did twice Saturday night against China, Lee drove it into the seats.
But this one was a whole lot larger than those others.
Japan manager Sadaharu Oh thought he had the final two innings of the game set up perfectly, starting with Ishii. Lefty against lefty usually is a good thing.
"I think the batter was too good for Ishii," Oh said. "It was the eighth inning and the batter came up with a big home run. If I knew he was going to do that, I wouldn't have (put Ishii into the game)."
Ishii struck out the first batter he faced, but Jong Beom Lee lined a single into center field. That set up Seung Yeop's decisive, smooth swing, resulting in a home run probably heard all the way to Seoul.
The Koreans wanted to win the Pool A series finale and gain Far East bragging rights from the inaugural Classic. But they seemed destined for the consolation prize -- a trip to the United States on Monday morning to prepare for the second round of the 16-team tournament, which will be played March 12-16 in Anaheim, as the number two seed from Pool A.
Now, as the top seed, Korea plays three exhibition games in Arizona -- Wednesday night against the Kansas City Royals in Surprise and Friday night against the San Diego Padres in Peoria. A date with the second seed from Pool B (United States, Canada, Mexico or South Africa) awaits Korea in Anaheim on Sunday, followed by two other games -- including a rematch against Japan.
Pool B teams begin play Tuesday afternoon with the U.S. playing Mexico at Chase Field in Phoenix and Canada taking on South Africa later that night in Scottsdale. The top two seeds from Pool B advance to Anaheim.
If pitching is the key to reaching the semifinals in San Diego, then Korea has an excellent shot of getting there.
"Our pitchers pitched so well," Korea manager In Sik Kim said. "(Japan) had good batters, but we had great pitchers who wouldn't let them hit."
A pitching staff that includes six Major Leaguers surrendered just one run in wins over Chinese Taipei (2-0) and China (10-1), but wobbled a bit in the first two innings on Sunday, surrendering a run in each inning.
A terrific, diving catch by right fielder Jin Young Lee that ended the fourth inning deprived Tsuyoshi Nishioka of what could have been a bases-loaded double or triple. It basically saved Korea's bacon.
"I knew he was capable of being a good fielder," In Sik said of his right fielder.
Oh admitted that the huge home run and super defensive play were, "The reasons we could not win. They had two heroes."
Well, maybe three.
Right-hander Chan Ho Park, the most famous pitcher in Korea history, pitched a perfect ninth inning for the save.
"He is a great veteran pitcher and I thought he as the best man for the job," In Sik said.
Oh credited the Korean pitchers for a job well done in shutting down an offense that scored 18 runs in its opening game victory over China and 14 against Chinese Taipei.
But it was a completely different story in the finale.
And Korea gets the honor of being number one in the Far East. For now, that definitely is enough to whet their appetite.

This sets up Japan nicely for Round 2 match up in California.

MLB 2005 Season is Done

It was a great Major League Baseball season and I'm sad to see it go.
Chicago must be hopping and glad for them.
This might of been the last time for Roger Clemens, he will always be one of the greats. Biggio and Bagwell, how long they waited and how much longer can they wait? Brad Lidge, Andy Pettitte, Roy Oswalt as nasty as they are.....
Morgan Ensberg, where did your swing go? Lance Berkman, not enough.

Contreras, Buehrle, Garland, Garcia, what a rotation to go down in World Series history. Podsednik, terrific table setter. Dye, quietly killing the opponents.
Konerko, the big gun. AJ, always in the middle of something jinxing the opponents.

I know Football is in full swing and that's where most of the US funds are trading, but I will be analyzing NBA & NHL so please do drop in for a visit http://moneyplaysnba.blogspot.com/ http://moneyplaysnhl.blogspot.com/

I hope everybody is in the Black.

World Series Game 4

My thoughts on today's game. With the World Series on the line road warrior Freddy "G" going against Brandon "Give me the Ball at Home" Backe.
After a long game, 5 hours 41 minutes longest World Series game record, what woud be the angle on this game? I wouldn't say such a long game is exhausting for the players, but I would say it is draining and it will be a factor today.
Who will be the fresh player out of the bunch? The starting pitchers.

Game's back in Houston, you know the roof will be closed and loud.
I think Oswalt is top of his class when it comes to attacking the batters.
I like the home team, but I'll look to capture the value in the middle.

CWS +169 (W)

White Sox money has improved to +172, but that's ok we'll leave that alone and wait for In-Game plays.

For pure speculation on this game I think Minute Maid park with baseball friendly conditions will do wonders for pitching and defense.
I think this will be a tight one.

Arbitrage NLCS Game 6 Play

Arbitrage is the practice of taking advantage of a state of imbalance between two or more markets, a combination of matching lines are struck that exploit the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices.

I'm going to touch on this subject without much explanation.
There are P2P exchanges, but if you have a Pinny account you may have noticed "MLB Live" addition to your MLB wager selections.
This play will be active during the game and positions will be taken between innings. I will play this selection with the goal of capturing the profit in game.

Pre-game position:
HOU PK FIRST FIVE INNINGS +141 (W)
HOU ML +142 (W)

Stand by your computers at game time.

I'm back. Nothing happening unless you feel the Over. Value dropped on Houston. See what happens.

You know the Sharps are coming in on the low total backing the Over.
I understand the Over thinking with 7.5 dropping to 7, looking at both pitchers in recent games Over's have cashed, but if there was a theme for today's game it is pitching. You got to respect them Sharps though.

I love the manager for both of these teams. There is similar dynamics and methodical approach to their game. This is must win for the Angels with Byrd on the mound and the Halos are the Home Underdog today. Angels are not only suspect at bat, all the calls are going against them.
Contreras is pitching his best game since joining MLB.

The typical take on today's game is.... Angels rested and fired up with a game they gave away in Chicago. John Lackey has whipped these White Sox and Garland is not only rusty but the Halo has already knocked him around.
That maybe so, but what I see is a bucking trend of low scoring pitchers battle.
Anticipation is pushing down the total which is so dangerous to follow.

The Cards have been beating up on Astros, 11-5 this season, and today will send their 22 game winner Carpenter to the mound. For the visiting Astros, red hot Pettitte. Game 5 Back to Anaheim

This is a hard game to get. I've done just about everything except call Arty Moreno, I'm thinking about it.
You know this is a tough speculation by every measure. I want the Angels to win, but that doesn't make it so.
To get to Colon you hit him early because he improves as the game goes on.
To get to Moose you have to be patient. Somehow I sense these batters will know exactly what their doing today. The game total set at 8.5, low total in AL, might hold. But I'll buy 0.5 points down to crack that 4 in the first 5 innings.

Sports Hedge Fund

Just read Mark Cuban's blog. It's nothing new that's what syndicated play is all about. It doesn't matter that he's a billionaire I think he's just another square, but I am interested to see who Mark thinks is the sharpest and the brightest in the industry. Professional cappers are notoriously tough to track and the Touts only gives you their good record. I'm sure he has his resources.

Maybe I'll post a comment on his blog and advise him to take a look at my plays.

What do you guys think?
If you click on "Sports Hedge Fund" it'll link you to Mark's blog.

Yanks Live or Die

Iron Mike Soccia going about his business doesn't seem to care about the intangibles or at least it doesn't seem to bother his game.
I think the bombers will pull this one out ,but they'll need to scratch and claw today. Chacon is good because of Posada, I expect Posada to ride his pitcher hard today. What will the Angels do in the driver's seat? Bring rock solid fundamental baseball, no mistakes. Both pens rested.

National League Ball

Did you see the Angels yesterday doing it to the Big Unit? In the Bronx? In the rain? Playing small ball, National League ball Mike Soccia was brought up on. But Byrd was touched and 5 run lead disappearing shows no lead is safe with the Yanks. I wish the Angels well in New York. Game is postponed.

Today I look at Petco Park in San Diego. One of the best new parks right in the middle of downtown San Diego. Parking prices are expensive.

Matt Morris will look to trump the Pads in the mediocre west, but don't underestimate Woody given his command. If the Pads are to stay alive the pitching will need to come through. Let's play National ball.

STL/SDP UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -112

That's not national ball. Woody is crap on the mound and this wager is dead early. Looks like Lawrence is coming out.
It seems many teams are raising their OPS (Slugging Percentage + On Base Percentage) Under backers are taking hits.

Friday Looks Like Rain

If your thinking about Angels and Yanks or even the Sox Sox game. Tonight's rain adds risk to the speculation. Soxes have the better chance to get their game in.

My thoughts on Sox series. Sox will win.

Seriously now, Red Sox nation is out again hoping for return to glory. They are tough at home and this is it, they'll throw everything they got no hesitation. The whole world knows it and the moneyline has been swinging hard toward Boston.
I will fade Boston at this point. Sweep, 3 games, thanks for trying better luck next year. I'm not a Red Sox hater, I just like the play.
The public has spoken "No way, no how, not at Fenway, impossible"

I'll take CWS PK FIRST 5 INN +158 & ML +161
Isn't this fun.

Hey, I had Boston last year to win it all.

I know, this can't be happening World Champs don't get swept in the first round, that's why the pay was so sweet. Almost knocked down both sides.

MLB Banter Continues

Give me Roger today on the short game. Two old gladiators go at this one and as many will eye the O/U 7, spot lighting the pitching, I think Astros will get 2 or 3 runs by the 6th. HOU PK FIRST HALF +122

Maybe the boys will have some thoughts.

NHL side bet LAK/PHO UNDER 6 +122 for 2 units
This price is moving the wrong way.

Atlanta and Smoltz is tough in post season. I thought Roger was going to hold the 1 run lead for at least the half. I did balance it out with the NHL winner.

MLB Post Season Banter

OK I'm going to be a baseball fan root for my home town Angels down by one and no more home field advantage. Hats off to the bombers for knocking around Colon with 2 outs. This is a new game with big John Lackey against tricky Wang, Angels will get to him by the 6th. Lackey all grown up, been there, done that! Our pen is still loaded and closer ready to take the ball.
I'll be there, right by the Yanks bench, jeering them.

A little wager to make it interesting.

Angels baby ! Wang was pretty good, sinker was working, fielding errors did him in. Under would of been good.

I can't believe the world champions are on the brink of elimination. What stood out to me was the poor defense, Iguchi should not of had that opportunity.

Be back later, see what the boys like today.

Week (2) 11-7 +2.95
Week (1) 12-8-1 +9.885

Keep in mind Post Season game is a different animal and anything can happen in a short series.
One thing that comes to mind is Angels are Yankee killers. Moose on the mound for NY is questionable against Colon. Angels are red hot right now and Yanks may disappoint here after edging the Red Sox for divison win coupled with long travel across the coast.

Since I wrote about my thoughts on Yankees vs Angels game 1 of series I see the line has gone from Angels -119 to -125 I love Oct. baseball.

As fewer teams compete for the championship there are more squares, fleas jumping on these games. Make sure your angle has the edge, study the manager's options. Look at the reduced foul territory, know the ball park, weather changes in October, etc...etc....

Just got back from the Angels game. What a disappointing start for the Halos.
Moose threw some hangers in the early going but, the Angels could not cash it in.

Sat. Oct. 1 Play

The first day of Oct. Diamond Backs without pressure is rolling 6 in a row.
J. Vazquez is looking good lately. Brad Hennessey is also looking to finish strong and the snakes have not faced him this season.

ARZ/SFG UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -116 for 3 units
This line has changed to U4 +108 or buy the 0.5 for U4.5 -124

If you've looked at BetCrimes comment on LAD/SDP I agree on his thoughts.
I'll go with the quick over.

LAD/SDP OVER 4 FIRST 5 INNINGS -119 for 2 units

Bad choice adding the late game. Thinking about it now that was a rookie mistake, the basic rule for O/U is with strong pitching vs strong batting take the Under, with weak pitching vs weak batting take the under. The total number itself should of raised a flag as the books were luring the Overs.

BC, Good luck with the Pads. Signing out with game tied 1-1 at PetCo.

Fri. Sep. 30 Play

It's crunch time. Days are numbered so take the pickings while you can.
Taking a look at out of contention game with MIL/PIT. Davis and Perez takes the mound respectively. Although Perez often doesn't figure into the games he is good for half game and his pitching is improving. Davis is a quality pitcher who should have a much better W-L record. He goes deep and gives very little.

MIL/PIT UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -109
Sorry for my late posting the price has changed to -120

Thu. Sep. 29 Play

Today we look at the final game of the western division rivals Angels at Oakland. Angels clinched the division two nights ago and BetCrimes slammed the books with Angels resting their regulars last night.
Today Angels ace Colon with very impressive record takes the mound but, he will be on pitch count and his last outing was not so impressive.
A's will counter will Zito who has given the Angels hell this year but, he too is shaky. I think the bats will come to life early in this day game at MacAfee, wasn't it Network something last season?, take the early over.

LAA/OAK OVER 4 FIRST 5 INNINGS -106 for 2 units

it's nice to get paid early 1-0 +2.00 units

Wed. Sep. 28 Play

The WAS/FLA game for tomorrow Loaiza vs Beckett listing is wrong. Take Action on this game and play the books error.
Beckett is being shut down for the season the fish will send Moehler to the mound. Not only is the house of cards built by the Marlins collapsing, Moehler is in bad shape. Marlins slide to continue.

WAS ML +152 for 3 units
This line has changed along with the pitcher -104.

CWS/DET with the big Cuban on the mound for White Sox. Jose is pitching his best game right now but, Sean Douglass is not as hittable as he seems.
Sean has turned his game around and Tigers are playing out their revenge card. White Sox line up does not seem so formidable.

CWS/DET UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -106 for 2 units

I guess the Books dropped the ball on the WAS/FLA game. That wrong line was up for surprisingly long time. Hope many of you took advantage.
White Sox / Tigers game, got it by the hook.

TAM/CLE OVER 5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +119 for 1 unit

11 men left on base, Kaz only gives up 1 run in 6 innings. D-Rays score 4 runs in the first half but, not enough killing my big play of the day.
12 men left on base by White Sox. These are bad luck plays.
Pirates was the lone winner thanks to Jason Bay 3 run blast hit timely at top of 5th.

Mon. Sep. 26 Play

Moving on to week 7.

You got to love the American League Central. Keeping watch on the front runners I see White Sox pitchers are back on their game. Only few days ago the South Siders looked grim for post season but, now it looks to be up for grabs. Garland is focused and brings to Comerica 3-0 0.35ERA record against the Tigers. Not to underestimate Jason Johnson, winless against the W.Sox for 05', he'll be looking to revenge his losses sporting 2.68ERA at home.

CWS/DET UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -106 for 3 units

Crede homers top of 5th to send this game Over 4.5 His solo shot single handedly snaped my win streak. Funny thing is I checked my wager just minutes ago and the wager was not graded because the listed pitchers when I made the selection was N. Robertson not J. Johnson for the Tigers.
I think many players backed White Sox today and took the loss.
Better luck tomorrow.

Sun. Sep. 25 Play

Yanks are once again hot at the right place and at the right time.
They stumbled on Wright not being right but, I see Wang catching the second wind with his winning ways. Towers have become the workhorse and I do think he'll have a quality outing but, Bombers hitting righties .323
Am I looking at heavy chalk Yankees? No.
I do think Bombers win but, I'll stick with my half game totals.

TOR/NYY UNDER 5.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +102 for 2 units

Bottom of 5th, Yanks on the corners and A-Rod strikes out looking to make this First 5 Innings a winner. 1-0 +2.04 units

Hopefully BetCrimes or Batis will make some advise today.

The plays are Pinnacle lines and we don't disclose financial but, doing nicely thank you.

Fri. Sep. 23 Play

Cleveland staying hot in Kansas City. CC gets the nod with second outing in a week. CC was masterful but, Royals should get better at bat facing the same pitcher in such short span of time. Even with Royals getting some runs it will need several multiple run innings as it is Lima time which means Indians will score.

LAD PK FIRST 5 INNINGS -104 for 3 units
LAD -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +127 for 3 units

Yes the Dodgers did me in little while back but, I'm going to back Lowe he's on a roll. I think LA has a strong edge here.

BetCrimes and I have different view of the Dodgers at Diamond Backs game but, this is what make open forum great. It brings out the style and charcter behind the play. I do share some of the same concern with Dodgers to disappoint in Bank One Ballpark and hopefully I have the early game edge regardless of the outcome.

Second plays.
STL -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -102 for 2 units
I like Suppan to hold his own today. Lines indicate runs.

CHC/MIL UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -110 for 2 units
Good situational play where Under 8.5 has dropped to 8 on the over night.

Good luck players

Mon. Sep. 19 Play

All the comments and support have been very inspirational.
I'm working on a new project here in Chicago and will be continuing long hours but, there are some advantage to being in the Windy city shared by Wrigley Field and
U.S. Cellular Field. I'll be sure to catch one of the game between Indians and White Sox, lower box seats on third base side at $65, not a bad deal.

This is my take today.

DET -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +104 for 3 units

Tigers have been losing but, look closely as they have battled in these games.
Bonderman progressing back to form. Look for early scoring to hold 5 innings.

TOR PK FIRST 5 INNINGS -123 for 2 units
Moyer could not hold 6 run lead in last outing and his stuff has been off.
Downs in good form, look for him to go 6 solid innings.

1-1 today but, loser was for 3 units making it -1 unit.
Bonderman is a enigma to me it's easier to move on to better capping games.
Jays proved to be a good half game play as they blew it in the 9th.

Sat. Sep 17 Play

Things are not going well this week. I'm overloaded at work and I've put in 90+ hours which is really cutting into my capping time.

I'll take two Half game totals today.

COL/ARZ UNDER 5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +100 for 3 units

KCR/CLE UNDER 5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -110 for 2 units

I took these late last night.

Wise words from BetCrimes. I do require time to analyze these games and the level of plays have fallen below acceptable taking 0-2 with loss of -5.20 units.
I will take the day off tomorrow as I am traveling to Chicago. I will take the loss for this week, first time since I've started this blog, as no matter how much experience and skill one can posses nobody is bigger than the game for the object of this game is to maximize opportunities and minimize the losses. Every execution should result from full assessment of risk which is to analyze every detail possible. Everybody is given the same options, know when to pass.

I will be back on Sunday evening with the wrap up.

I'm also a big fan of NHL and NBA. I've tracked the on goings at NBA Summer league and NHL Rookie camp & Training camp. I'm considering blogs on both as there will be many opportunities to rack up some gains.

Wish all players the best of luck and have a winning Sunday.

CWS/KCR UNDER 9 -129 for 2 units

Sorry, missed this by 4 min. already started

I guess the first game being late was a good thing. No harm no foul.

Let's take a look at the contenders match up OAK/BOS.
What a must see game as the post season is around the corner.
Mid September and Schilling is back as a starter where he should be.
I expect nothing less than vintage Curt tonight.
On the other side Blanton, this guy will go 6 or 7 innings consistantly and not give up runs. Even better with Red Sox never facing Joe. Now these teams always battle with their bats and rarely go Under but, that's what I'll be backing.
This game to result against the over trend.

UNDER 5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +113 for 3 units

The first game total didn't make it in time but, I will count it since it got posted.

I will go with the half game angle on this early game.
PIT/STL UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS -109 for 2 units
The Bucs are coming on strong and Perez will be the key. He looked pretty good in his last outing. Jason is probably the best in Cards rotation and though there is a good chance he might lose the edge runs will not come early.

HOU ML -138 for 3 units
Roger owns the fish and I expect him to fully recover from the last bad outing.

Friday turned low total numbers, in what looked like a pitching duel, into easy overs. Late games turned Under but, premier pitching match ups took an different turn.

Today I will go with OAK/TEX game with public money going to Over 9 and Over 5 first half. Fade the public on the First Half game.
Late game runs have become common occurance with these two teams so I think the better bet is the First Half with Pitchers showing low run numbers.

NYM/STL UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS

Seo is still one of the hottest pitcher in NL since the All Star and Jason Marquis is coming to late season form. Jason on a roll is very tough to derail

LAA/CWS UNDER 4.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS
at -116 for 2 units

I would make this a 3 unit play if this play was not such an obvious pick.
I don't believe in gifts and took this over MIN/CLE under 3.5 F5 play.
Washburn can have command issues and Mark Buehrle's had his ups and downs but, these are contending teams in September trending Under. Should be a pitching duel.

Ahh, the obvious winner is the loser. Looking back and reading the loser pick I sound like I didn't like it in the first place.
Progression continues 1-1 +0.68 units.

Thur. Sep. 8 Play

I thought I was going to miss my deadline today.

These are my the plays I will be backing.

TAM/NYY U6 FIRST 5 INNINGS -128 3 units
Hendrickson has been solid of late and Wang coming off DL has been doing well in recovery. This game has that late season feel with Yanks fighting for post season and D-Rays playing strong against the Yanks, runs will not be easy today and this number is just too high. Full game total at 10 at even money is also worth a shot.

TAM ML +199 for 1 unit
TAM -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +220 for 1 unit
Might be a bit of a reach but, I'm playing house money and worth the price with Wang, who has been hit by the D-Rays.

Watch Out! Clutch is dialed in and war chest is growing! 3-0 +7.19 units

I'm back on Oswalt to dominate. Did you know he has a new compact delivery? Last time out I tried to fade him and he came out throwing strikes. Houston strength is the starting pitchers, specifically Pettitte, Clemens and Oswalt, these three will have strong showing in September. Now Phils are not going to give up here with Lieber coming on strong. He will keep this close. I think Astros are going to edge this game but, I like the First Half Under better.

TAM -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +349 for 1 unit
Another Half game bet with two pitchers going different directions. Big Unit was outstanding in his last outing and Casey got hit all over the place. This adds extra value to already inflated Yankees money combine that with giving up -0.5 in the 1st half make this play the SuperDog variety. Randy is good, especially in late season but, his last outing was too good and I expect him to be a little softer. Fossum on the other side has the stuff to give hitters hell, I will take a chance for him bring his game against the Big Unit and the Bombers.
Rays are 9-4 against the Bombers 4-2 on the road.

Good luck

Well, I'm going to add one late game.
COL/SDP OVER 7.5 -113 for 2 units.

I guess some readers are saying "Clutch you screwed up, the Devil Rays play was money line all the way"
It was either or selection for me and since I didn't want to give up -1.5 runs the First Half held the better value -0.5 against Johnson rather than Rivera.
I did think about taking TAMP ML too but, on the big dog I'll pick one angle to take the shot. I basically covered the risk of losing this pick with my
HOU/PHL U F5 and late addition of COL/SDP O 7.5 makes today a nice winning day with a nice try on a big dog!
2-1 +3.00 units

Good News, gain of 3.585 units

Sun. Sep. 4 Play

DET/CWS (Garland vs Bonderman)
I know both of these pitchers have been losing and giving up hits but, I see some reasoning behind their shaky outing.
Bonderman was hit in the wrist by a come backer 2 outings ago and I think that effected his last outing. He says he's fine and I think he'll adjust tomorrow against the White Sox.
Garland just had a poor outing making bad pitches, he too is physically fine and I expect him to return to form.

Beware of backing White Sox in this spot. Trend line I track likes Tigers to upset.

It will come down to this play for me Sunday to make or break week 3.
DET/CWS U9 -105 for 3 units

End the week with a winning play! 1-0 +3.00 units

Sat. Sep. 3 Play

I've locked in some plays already.

The Indians send Milwood to the mound who went complete game giving up only 2 runs to take the tough luck loss. Milwood has been solid lately.
Santana was outstanding but, he too ended on the losing end of 2-1 game.
CLE/MIN U 3.5 -114 for 3 units

The D-Rays seems to come up short on 4 game losing streak but, looking at these losses they have been money for the First 5 innings and still holding good value.
TAMPA -0.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS +185 for 1.5 units

Made some progress today by slamming the books 2-0 for gain of 5.775 units

Fri. Sep. 2 Play

My man Batis is on METS +1.5 I originally thought UNDER with these two pitchers but, METS to win here might not be a bad choice. I see D-Train having a short to medium outing today, which means out by 6th.

These are in play.

CHC/PIT game. Fading Fogg, he is half the pitcher he was last season.
Expect early run support for Maddux. I don't think either of these pitcher will go the distance.
CUBS PK FIRST 5 INNINGS -110 for 2 units

Playing the Under trend which has been hurting me lately. Keep it small.
NYY/OAK U 9.5 -116 for 1 unit

SFG/ARZ game. Jason getting back to late season form. Webb looks better but, not good enough.
SFG ML -109 for 3 units
SFG/ARZ UNDER 8 -120 for 1 unit

LAD/COL game. Weaver is a workhorse. Dodgers should play for contact against Kim.
LAD ML -114 for 3 units
LAD RL -1.5 +138 for 1 unit

Good luck

Negative day with loss of -1.63 units
