Coming in with 3 straight quality starts. Charlie did lose as he was out pitched against Toronto's Estrada in his last start, but Morton logged 4 wins to 1 loss in July. Home team will send Cole Hamels who is coming off a 9 inning gem giving up 4 hits 1 run at Minnesota. The value is with the Rangers and Houston has been on decline. We like Cole's perfect home record.

Tonight in Denver the Rockies return home from 6 game road trip going 2-4 and they are still in the hunt. New York Mets are playing their 7th road game and they have been giving up runs. Steven Matz taking the mound for NY has not fared well. 3 quality starts in last 7 with Mets going 2-5/ Tfhis is the revenge match with Matz in bounce back spot. Jeff Hoffman has not done better, but the Rox will support his start and they are back at home. We will lay this one and leave it to the grueling schedule combined with mile high altitude to be too much for the Mets.

The Jays are trying to catch traction, but they have a losing pitcher on the mound, J.A. Happ 3-7. He got knocked around at Cleveland for 9 hits and 7 runs in 6 innings in his last start. Toronto is 4-9 in Happ starts. L.A. Angels are not the cream of crop, but they have turned positive in money. That's always a good sign. On the mound is Parker Bridwel 4-1 for L.A. though the big Texan has gone less then 50 innings he is pitching quality games. Angels are 7-1 behind him. We like the other L.A. team today. The visiting Cardinals are 3rd in NL Central just like the Miets in NL East. The difference will be on the mound with Adam Wainwright against the Mets Zack Wheeler. .Wainwright took  a 4-1 win against them in his last outing. He is the Cards  top money pitcher and though he has not done as well on the road he is still profitable 5-4 as a underdog.. Zack Wheeler 0-4 against NL Central and Mets are 2-7 with hime on the mound. Regressing in this spot. Take the Cards.

Playing just under .500 the Braves are 20-22 at home They have a hot Knuckler on the home mound, R.A. Dickey. He is excellent at home pitching 7 quality starts out of 9 giving the Braves 7-2 advantage. Dickey has not lost at home since April 20th when he battled Washington's ace Strasburg in a 1 run loss. On the visiting Diamondbacks number two,Taijuan Walker. Not as impressive as Walker has gone 7 innings twice. 2 quality starts out of 7 away. However he does come in on a bounce back spot and D-Backs are 5-2 with Walker away. Arizona 5-2 head to head. They play well against NL East.

San Diego Padres at Philadelphia Phillies
Looking at the lower end of MLB standing we have the Pads at Phillies. Philadelphia getting summer showers with clearing in the after noon with clouds. The air will be heavy and the ball will not get lift tonight. Going for San Diego, Clayton Richard, he's not having a good season at 5-8 and Pads are 6-11. However Philadelphia doesn't have much advantage with Nick Pivetta, 2-4 and team 3-7.
So the wins are hard to come by either team. We do see pitching improving tonight. Richards is a veteran pitcher who has been around. He is coming off a tough outing and this is a bounce back spot. Pivetta is rolling with 3 quality starts out of last 4 including a 1 run 7 inning performance in New York his last time out. We like the Under. The Phillies Under 4-0-1 last 5 home games. 13-4-4 after a loss. 16-6-5 overall. 4-1 with Pivetta.  The Padres Under 6-1 on the road. 5-1-1 against NL East. 4-1 Richard away. 4-1 following a team loss. Head to head Under 4-0

Los Angeles Dodgers at Cincinnati Reds
It's the Great American Ballpark. LA with 42-26 record comes 31-17 against right handed pitching and 17-8 against losing teams. Those are pretty good numbers. Pitching for LA is Hyn-Jin Ryun 2-6 with 2 quality starts. The South Korean product is the weak link in the powerhouse Dodgers rotation. Ryu's start neutralizes the playing field with Reds at home. LA has only 3 wins out of 10 Ryu starts and none away from Dodgers Stadium. His last start was against the Reds and though LA managed a win Ryu did not look good. Gave up 3 homers and 4 RBI lasting 4 innings. Asher Wojciechowski has only 3 starts, took a ND against Dodgers  but held his own against the Cardinals at home. We'll take the mid size home dog on this match up.

We have the Orioles reeling as they stagger home after a woeful 1-7 road trip. St Louis sending Carlos Martinez and he's good. Stingy pitcher showing 0.77 WHIP in last 3 starts and blanking the Phillies at home. Kevin Gausman has been laboring lasting only 3 innings at Bronx and touched for 7 runs. The line has moved to St Louis since opening, but the Cardinals play look square to us. As good as Martinez has been he's not nearly effective away. Baltimore comes to play at Camden and we like Showalter's team to get back on track.

The Pirates are showing up. Their looking for a sweep of Colorado and the Rox are reeling. On the mound German Marquez 4-3 with 4.44 ERA pitched close to 50 innings. He is a road guy. The Bucks are sending Chad Kuhl 1-5 with 5.63 ERA and over 50 innings. Chad splits his innings worked away and home but, he's given up more than twice the runs at home. He's pitched well in last two games and I look for him to regress tonight. Play the Rox for no sweep and fade Kuhl at home against visiting Marquez.

New York pitcher Michael Pineda has gone 14 inning in last 2 games giving up 3 runs. He is striking out batters and pitching deep, but he will be tested today. Trevor Bauer bit shaky 3 quality start out of 7. Cleveland has supported winning 5 of those 7, but they'll need to get through Porcello. Cleveland has good things going at home and Terry Francona has good ideas, but we like Porcello to pitch his A game.

The Nats looking to take home advantage over L.A. and Miami stand in their way. AJ Cole takes the home mound with suspension pending. Cole is not going deep, but Washington pen is rested. Andrew Cashner for the Marlins is 50/50 at home and winless on the road. Marlins 3-10 on Cashner road starts. The trend today clearly favor Washington, but Miami has played close against the Nationals and Jose Fernandez played his last game against them at home helping his team take the series. This game is the weak link of this series with best shot for Miami. The line is holding despite consensus majority on Washington. Look for another lift from Miami.

These are the last days for Vinny and what a Hall of Famer he is. I think it's why I prefer games on radio when the Dodges are playing. The Dodgers are playing good ball right now and Kazmir is back on the hill. His numbers are not as good as on the road and may not go more than 5 or 6 innings, but that should be good. Jon Gray for the Rox is coming off a excellent win going 9 inning, but should decline here at the Ravine. In Gray start Colorado 3-14 away. Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals
If you're a gambling type fading the Nats with Stephen Strasburg might intrigue you. He's been roughed up giving up 24 hits in last three appearances and Nats finished losing all three. Atlanta has a late season spike which does little for themselves, but spoils post season for opponents.

The Rockies are cooling off, they've dropped 4 out of 5 since going 11-3. That started with sweeping Atlanta 4 games then going on the road beating Baltimore series 2-1. The Mets series 3-1, L.A. back home 2-1. Miami broke the string of series wins and last night blew a win. There's a decline here and on this matinee Colorado will send Tyler Chatwood. He's done well for the Rox, 12-8, number two money pitcher. However he's not built for high altitude at 4-7 with 1.71 WHIP and 5.72 ERA. Texas is back on winning track going 7-3. Now 8-4 against National League. Texas starter AJ Griffin is not exactly a quality starter, but he is the Rangers number 2 money guy winning 10-4 when Griffin starts. 8-3 as Underdog.  Colorado in inter league game at home against right handed starters 9-19, against winning teams 5-16. Take Texas.

Greetings players. Back from the break and ready to rock. We are on the AL East game with the Red Sox visiting the Yankees. They are not doing well within their division at 10-17 and they are not performing against winning teams. Michael Pineda will take the mound for NY and he is coming off an excellent June. Pineda's home starts have been well and he does come into a spot to improve.

Sabathis has pitched 8 quality starts out of 12 and definately helping his club, but most of that effort is coming away from Yankee Stadium. The Pirates have dominated the Dodgers for quite awhile. You can go back three seasons and it continues this season. We're looking at 4 game sweep of winning record holder, 41-36,  Dodgers by under .500 losing record holder, 37-39,  Pirates.  L.A. before this series had 6 games win streak going so they were not slumping. Sweeps are hard to come by and sweeping a winning team is tougher yet. Now the Pirates are making this task a little harder by sending a losing pitcher to the mound, Francisco Liriano 4-7, Lariano is coming off a game where he gave up no home runs, which usually means he's going to give it up here. The Dodger need to regain their poise. Liriano starting the Pirates have lost 7 out of last 8. Dodgers are 11-6 in day games.

MLB Post Season Monday

How time fly. Didn't get to post much plays this season, but we have an interesting October scene. Let's look at home field advantage and how it's over estimated by moneyline measure. The opposition's ability to play ball at this level will not be rattled with raucous crowd.

Is there an changing of the NL Central guards? The Cubs look really good surging at the right time with the right pitcher. Chicago back at home 1-1, sending Jake Arieta, best pitcher in second half 31 scoreless innings, has not lost since July 25th. Good thing happen for the Cubs when Arieta starts, but St Louis Cardinals with Michael Wacha starting is 12-5 better than 70% away. Wacha has been beat up lately, but post season is a different animal. Michael's been here he knows he just needs to keep his boys in striking distance. We roll with the Cards taking the Run Line.

The Nats ride their season with highs and mostly lows. They beat the visiting Phillies just over 1 week ago in Philadelphia then returned home to take 3 out of 4 from Miami only to get swept by Baltimore in their following series. Philadelphia is back and Phillies hope to give some paypback. Phillies pitcher Jerad Eickhoff has been smooth in his last two starts. Trending better away. Washington sending Jordan Zimmerman. He is in a spot to improve and the Nats are 13-5 ijn his home starts. We're going to look for good pitching match up tonight.

Yes, yes, back to Camden Yards. Baltimore came out on top against AL Central leading KC Royals over this past weekend. The O's were the home underdog in that series, but the line moved the wrong waty throughout. Now welcoming the Red Sox the money has been moving with Baltimore since the opening. It moved from about -112 to high as -134 before pulling back. We don't see the advantage today. Kevin Gausman taking the ball has not factored in Baltimore's win since Aug.1st  He's pitching ok at home although the sample is small. He comes in after pitching a 1 run game in Bronx and with offense clicking there are high hopes However Gausman in a spot to decline and likely not factor in final decision. Boston's Eduardo Rodgriguez 3-3 on the road and the Red Sox are 3-4, but his performance has been quality away from Fenway. Boston 8-1 when opponent scores 5 runs or more in previous game and 6-2 coming off their game allowing 2 runs or less. Baltimore 2-7 in last 9 against left handed starter. 2-7 coming off a game allowing 2 runs or less, We're looking to take the win away at Camden Yards.

Washington making an push. Coming off sweeping Atlanta and Max Scherzer started the first of four consecutive win streak. He's back for another round looking to log a win. He hasn't done that since July. Although the Nationals are on winning track winning the Atlanta series is not all that impressive  considering the Braves free fall. Max Scherzer, the key pitcher in Washington rotation, is bleeding money for backers and it does not get better at home.  Jon Niese is not blowing away opponents he has a losing record, but the Mets are giving him tons of support and New York is winning games with Niese on the mound. He's in a spot to improve and the Mets are on the hunt. Mets away in day game.

Texas and L.A. are inches away in AL West, but neither one's able to take advantage as the Angels fall to Detroit and the Rangers to Toronto. We'll do it again with Yovani Gallardo taking the hill for Texas. Yovani posted two wins in a row with last win scattering 8 hits no runs, 4 K's and 1 BB in 6 innings at Detroit. Matter of fact Yovani starts have resulted in 5 wins out of last 6 for Texas. He has better than 66% win at home and he will need his A game today against the streaking Blue Jays. They are playing explosive baseball and they will send Marco Estrada who is better on the road than home. Marco is also pitching well and Toroto is the beneficiary of 4 wins out of last 5. Estrada looks to improve and the Jays are 5-2 in Estrada day games. Lay the favorite.

KC looking like it's in post season form. They may not score much, but they don't need to. The Royals back end is tops in MLB. The Red Sox are 12 games below .500 and sitting at bottom of AL East. Not only that Boston are losing more than 3 times as much as Yankees have won. Yanks being the top money team in AL East you would of won three times more by fading Boston. However past performance does mot guarantee a loss for Boston and today's money line is suspect as they come. KC's Danny Duffy is No#3 in Royals money win. He is rolling 5 quality in last 7 starts with Royals going 6-1 and Boston's Wade Miley starts have produced 1-6 record in last 7 Red Sox  games. Well Boston does play KC well and Miley's Fenway games have been quality. Duffy coming in on a spot to decline and Red Sox to take the opener.

We got the Red coming home from a long road trip only to find themselves hosting the Royals on 8-2 run. Both teams were off on Monday and the Reds at home are better than .500, but they went through brutal road trip. Cincinnati will send rookie Cuban Raisel Iglesias who is not a rookie, but top tier Cuban relief pitcher being stretched out by the Reds and still a work in progress. He's coming off a win and confidence maybe growing. However KC with top money pitcher Edinson Volquez on a night to improve is a bit too much for the Cuban and the Reds.

We have a good one here f'ellas. The Bucks take the opener 3-2 behind JA Happ's 1 run effort ND and Colon was good too. The second game will feature Charlie Morton for Pittsburgh. The Bucks have won all three Morton's recent starts. He will go against Jon Niese for the Mets. Jon Niese is on a surge. Charlie holds the better record this season, but his 4-1 home record is mere 3-3 on the road. His last 7 starts have only produced 3 quality starts and he has gone 1-3. Niese is on the other side despite his losing record. Jon has pitched 6 quality starts out of his last 7 and the Mets have gone 5-2. Niese eating innings and he is 8 quality starts out of 11 at home. New York making a push toward September and somehow the Rockies are looking to giving them trouble. The Mets have owned the Rox and they have transformed their offense giving New York some punch. I do like the Mets to take game 1, but at 73% consensus picking NY this game is too close to "fade the public" play. Colorado taking Washington series, winners of last 3 out of 4, swinging hot bats. You know these two teams have another strong trend in going Under. However the Under set too low at 7. Over is pushing the Total and has broke though 7.5 still pushing Over. That's  interesting with match up resulting in 8 Unders. Maybe Rox Over 20-6 against winners or Mets Over 8-3 when Total is 7 ~ 8.5 and both teams putting up runs have the Cappers liking this pick.

It's a heated night at Citizens park. The Braves could not break through at Baltimore. The game we picked for them to win was a moose job giving up a walk off losing the lead. Atlanta has been sliding ever since and this game is continuing road trip adding to their woes. We're going to take the slight home dog Philadelphia.

Atlanta Braves at Baltimore Orioles
Playing this one at Camden Yards. The O's did a nice job on the road beating Detroit and Tampa series. They did lose to New York, but overall success. First game back hosting a National League team with ex-O Nick Markakis playing right field. Atlanta with pitcher Alex Wood on the hill has done well. The Braves lost the St Louis series at home, but played them tough and took the final game against one of Cardinals best, Michael Wacha. Before that they won the Dodgers series so Atlanta is heating. Baltimore coming in 6-19 run..When total is set at 7 to 8.5  Alex is 4-1 in last 5 and following a quality start he is 5-2 in last 7. Baltimore starter Kevin Gausman getting stretched out. I think the Braves will hit him. Gausman  1-5 as a favorite and with total at 7 to 8.5 record is 1-5 Also the Orioles are not good after scoring 5 or more. Taking the Bravos. Money line dropping.

Philadelphia Phillies at Chicago Cubs
Its the early game in Chicago's North side. We'll get another dose of Jake Arrieta going for his 5th straight win. Jake has been dominant with 2 runs or less in 6 straight starts. Phillies will send Cole Hamels who has been declining. Cole lasted just 3 innings against Miami and at San Francisco struggling both starts, but likely will improve here. Even with Cole competitive Jake Arrieta is the hot pitcher. Players will be on the Cubs, but this could be a good spot to catch Chicago off guard again. Philadelphia has matched up well in Wrigley and we have a generous ML for this game.

Minnesota Twins at Los Angeles Angels
The surging Angels continue their dominating home stand as they are perfect since the All Star break. LA won the opener 5-3 despite CJ's shaky outing and Minnesota's lack of execution will make this task more difficult with Garret Richards on the hill. The Twins will counter with Ervin Santana in his first return to the Big A He has been pitching well as of late, but these Angels are rolling and at home the Halos look to have the advantage.  However the Twins are money team very good in this type of situation. Santana holds great up side here where he honed his skills. Take Minnesota.

N.Y. Mets at S.F. Giants
The Giants will try to stop the bleeding today. Matt Cain taking the mound should improve, but will it be enough against Bartolo Colon and the rising Mets.  I'm not ready to back the Giants yet. We'll ride the Mets playing below the radar.

St Louis Cardinals at Miami Marlins

The Cards are going about their business going 7-3 in last 10.  Winning record at home and away showing little weakness. What is telling about a winning team is their ability to win the RL St Louis is 38-32 with positive money. The Cards come to Miami with 70% consensus money.  There are so much reasons to lay the favorite, but why is the money line so low? Jamie Garcia blanked Minnesota and Kansas City in last two starts. He's pitching second game away in a row.  Miami sending Matt Latos who's gone through struggles since returning. However Matt on home mound has been very good against the Cards 4-1. Since coming back from DL his velocity is increasing. Miami for 3 seasons have given St Louis tough games. Looking to back the small home dog ready and primed to take on the top team.

Texas Rangers at Oakland A's
You know for years Oakland has been the team to back and I wouldn't count them out this season, but they are having issues and today will be another day with Kazmir not on his game. The A's rallied late to take the game last night, but Texas will not look back today. The Rangers will turn up the heat and we're taking the dog.

Houston Astros at Chicago White Sox
The Al leader showing difficulties playing high performance ball. They will send their top money pitcher and line is holding to Houston. I'm not sure if Dallas Keuchel will factor in the outcome. He is coming off a quality start, no decision team loss, and shut down these White Sox at home before that, but he has given up 4 runs in 3 out of last 6. Carlos Rodon lacking starts, but has been quality 4 out of 5 and good at home. We will fade the Astros.

We killed the White Sox yesterday and we take this game to Miami.

Chicago Cubs at Miami Marlins
We got two good veteran pitchers on the mound with Lester and Haren. Chicago in the mix in NL Central. Their Ace is on his game. Lester is eating innings and has been on a roll. It seems road game has not slowed Lester and the Cubs. However Haren is also rolling and will be a force at home. Miami offense is heating and a decline spot for Lester. We like the home dog to hold on. Chicago does not seem inspired against losing teams on the road and the Marlins have faired well.

Hey boys and girls! We are on a Tuesday game and it has paid off well.

Chicago White Sox at Texas Rangers
The White Sox are playing well and doing it on the road. The first game of this Texas series will feature Jeff Samardzija for the south siders and Colby Lewis, coming off a game getting rocked in Cleveland. We still like Colby to bounce back and keep the Rangers in striking distance. Texas rising.
