Cactus League: Seattle Mariners at San Diego Padres

The Pads coming off  split squad will play light. We like the fact these two teams share the same Peoria Sports complex making both teams virtually at home. Let's see what Mariner's will look like today. Seattle will have the better team today and short favorite with historically bad March pitcher, Yovani Gallardo. We don't place much weight on that.

Cleveland Indians at Toronto Blue Jays
A day after Cleveland's 3rd straight win. A day after Trevor Bauer lasting less than a inning with his bloody pinky. Toronto stands 1 game away. A game at the Roger Centre where the Jays are 57% winners. Almost 58% as favorites and better than 58% in day games. Cleveland with their winning ways are just below even money on the road. When a underdog 44% again about even money. Terry Francona unloaded his pen. Going to side with Jays at home. Have a good one players.

Washington Nationals at Lod Angeles Dodgers
The Nats are going to send Joe Ross in this spot, to get to NL Championship, while L.A. try to stay alive with Kershaw on short rest. You think Washington puts this on the back burner or try to muscle they're way? Washington is 7-4 with Ross starting away this season. However Kershaw starting against the Nationals have gone 11-1. The Dodgers 10-4 off a loss and they need this one, Taking the run line.

Boston Red Sox at Cleveland Indians
The line is dropping and we like Rick Porcello. Boston pitcher is 7 quality starts out of 7. The Sox are 6-1in Porcello starts and he is poised to improve. Trevor Bauer bit shaky 3 quality start out of 7. Cleveland has supported winning 5 of those 7, but they'll need to get through Porcello. Cleveland has good things going at home and Terry Francona has good ideas, but we like Porcello to pitch his A game.

Los Angeles Dodgers at San Francisco Giants
Is L.A. looking ahead? They've just gone 1-4 since going on the road. Kenta Maeda on the mound for L.A. Is holding up, L.A. 10-6 in Maeda road starts, but the numbers are misleading as he has only 2 quality starts out of last 7 and offense has carried these wins. Matt Moore is strong at home 8-5 and Giants 5-2 in his last 7. SF 10-3 with current line and 7-2 head to head at the Bay.

Miami Marlins at Washington Nationals
The Nats looking to take home advantage over L.A. and Miami stand in their way. AJ Cole takes the home mound with suspension pending. Cole is not going deep, but Washington pen is rested. Andrew Cashner for the Marlins is 50/50 at home and winless on the road. Marlins 3-10 on Cashner road starts. The trend today clearly favor Washington, but Miami has played close against the Nationals and Jose Fernandez played his last game against them at home helping his team take the series. This game is the weak link of this series with best shot for Miami. The line is holding despite consensus majority on Washington. Look for another lift from Miami.

Colorado Rockies at Los Angeles Dodgers

These are the last days for Vinny and what a Hall of Famer he is. I think it's why I prefer games on radio when the Dodges are playing. The Dodgers are playing good ball right now and Kazmir is back on the hill. His numbers are not as good as on the road and may not go more than 5 or 6 innings, but that should be good. Jon Gray for the Rox is coming off a excellent win going 9 inning, but should decline here at the Ravine. In Gray start Colorado 3-14 away. L.A. 14-5 against righty, 10-3 against NL West, 10-4 in game 2 of series. Back end is solid. We roll with the Dodgers

St Louis Cardinals at Colorado Rockies
Did everyone see or hear what happened out West? The Giants blew it in stunning fashion. They had the game beating the Dodgers Ace Clayton Kershaw. That was devastating for SF and their backers, nice size dog too, but I'm sure the Cardinals got a rise out of that one and they will be pumped to be in this mix.
St. Louis pitcher Adam Wainwright on game two of series is 24-6 in this spot. Colorado pitcher De La Rosa is lagging and 1-4 in last 5 game 2 of series. Lay the Cards.

Chicago White Sox at KC Royals
We have a day game coming up. When this series was started Chris Sale went the distance beating the Royals thus making the White Sox 7-3 in 10 games. Then they dropped two following games, the last game 3-10 loss, bring their road record to 31-44. That is a contrast to their home record 41-33. The defending Champs maybe behind, but they still win at home 44-30 and win against division opponents 41-22. We like the Royals.

The Mariners were at the end of their season before Texas came to town and Seattle took 3 out of 4. We look for the Mariners to force their will as they have dominated this match up in Oakland 20-8.
Hisashi Iwakuma taking the hill, 7-0 following a game scoring 5 runs or more. 16-5 road start against losing teams. A's 2-9 against AL West, 1-5 against winning teams. Daniel Mengden pitching for A's 1-6 with little more then 51 innings pitched. He's not formed much trend, but more exposure than performance. Lay Seattle.

Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals
If you're a gambling type fading the Nats with Stephen Strasburg might intrigue you. He's been roughed up giving up 24 hits in last three appearances and Nats finished losing all three. Atlanta has a late season spike which does little for themselves, but spoils post season for opponents.
Mike Folynewicz has gone 4-1 in last 7 starts with the Braves going 4-3. As much as this big dog may tempt you, it has a shot, the play is on the Total. The Over has gone 11-3-1 and 7-2 at Nationals Park. We have a slight breeze NW which has produced 8-3 Over. L.A. Is pushing toward post season and many are on the band wagon, but Zack Greinke taking the mound for Arizona is terrific on the road. That's a Money team. Tonight the Twins coming in at slight dog on opening and line reversing to slight home favorite, this situation is showing Minnesota 8-20. Matt Boyd going for the Tigers rolling 7-1. Tyler Duffey has tendencies to string losses. Head to head is Detroit 8-2. We like it.

Tonight two losing pitchers take the mound. Clay Buchholtz 4-9 for Boston visiting Tampa. Chris Archer 7-16 for the Rays. Both teams have been winning as of late. Boston 9-2 last 11 and Tamp 7-3 last 10. Both pitchers are bouncing back, but likely setback for Archer 0-3 with 8.10 ERA against Boston. Clay is better on the road. Tampa 9-21 after scoring 2 runs or less, 8-20 after allowing 5 runs or more, Archer 3-13 following a quality start. Boston 4-0 in head to head match up. We'll take it.
