Philadelphia Phillies at Washington Nationals
The Nationals brought their big bats yesterday clobbering John Lannan and the visiting Phillies, final score 9-2, with the Nats getting 12 hits to Phillies 4 hits. Philadelphia is not close to being well with record of 52-63 much of their losses have come on the road 23-36. Despite the telling tales of Philadelphia coming to Nationals Park where the Nats have 32-28 record these two teams are similar in their 2013 quest for the pennant race. Yesterday's one sided game was a rarity. 6 out of last 10 match ups was decided with 2 runs or less, home team has won 7 out of last 10, but Phillies will send one of their top road pitcher in Cliff Lee. He is not getting support and though Cliff is 6-2 away the Phillies have 6-6 record not able to fully take advantage. The Nationals going with Taylor Jordan who is not pitching quality, 2 out of 7 non quality starts, and Philadephia has beat him 4-2 back in July 9th knocked him out in 5 innings. Nationals are 0-7 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game. 2-6 against pitcher with WHIP less than 1.15 and Cliff Lee coming into a spot to improve. Backing Lee to take care of 5 innings in Nationals Park and looking for the lead mid way through
PHILADELPHIA First 5 innings -0.5 runs at -115 for 1 unit(W)
Philadelphia blew it. Giving up 5 runs in the 7th to end 8-5, but the First 5 innings Philadelphia 4-2!
